Not much depth
Pros: She's a real person, so we're actually hearing what a housewife did and thought during the war. We do hear about rations, the Home Guard, etc... We hear about her sons, one in the RAF and one a prisoner of war.Cons: She hates men (on general principle) and does a lot of whining about how women would never have gone to war but are doing all the suffering at home. Also, I can't tell if she's supposed to be English or American. She mentions having lived in America and wanting to go back, and the reader (who needs to check her pronunciation on a LOT of words) has an American accent, but she seems to be English. Confusing. All in all, a good portrait of what a British housewife though about and had to deal with. Unfortunately, this particular British housewife just didn't have that much to say.
