Who the Hell is Hamish?

Who the Hell is Hamish?

Published by: The Australian
12 Episodes | First Released: Feb 4 | 🇦🇺
He was born Hamish Watson, a surfie dude from Sydney – but he could morph into whatever you needed him to be. Hamish is due to be sentenced to jail in early 2019 for swindling a handful of victims out of more than $7m. But these crimes are just the final pages in a resume too thick to staple; for decades he’s duped victims in the US, Canada, Britain, Hong Kong and Australia. How did he do it? How did he evade authorities around the world for so long and what’s he done with all those tens of millions of dollars he stole?

Worried about Jane

I am enjoying this podcast and only have one episode to go.However, I am very concerned about the portrayal of “Jane.” I am very concerned for Jane’s view of what she “did.”Jane is 100% a victim of Hamish, if not a victim of the worst kind. She was an underaged “child” who was sexually, emotionally, and financially taken advantage of by a much older adult man.Jane was literally sex-trafficked. Jane did not have the capacity to make true “conscious” choices, as she says, in the circumstances she was in. I’m not sure what Australian law is, or what the age of “consent” is, but Hamish should be charged of this crime he committed against this girl.I’m disappointed that your show didn’t raise more flags and more disgust over this relationship.I hope and pray that Jane gets the deep therapy she needs.

Jane

I have enjoyed this podcast- well constructed and well told. But during the full interview with Jane I could not stop cringing. Just so insensitive. This young woman (girl at the time) was a victim. She remained calm and courageous in telling her story but I found the unnecessary prying from the interviewer extremely uncomfortable.

Five star content, one star editing

This podcast was riveting. Fascinating subject, excellent interviews, sooooo compelling. What was difficult was the wet mouth noises/drinking/swallowing sounds REPEATEDLY, especially on the bonus episode. 🤢😬🤢😬🤢Those sounds have no business being so LOUD and in my ears. Were I sitting next to the person, I would not hear them with such crystal clarity. Please editors, take heed.

Great story

Hamish is sinister no doubt and deserves to be locked away. But let’s not forget that the majority of victims were drawn to him due to his appearance of wealth and they greedily wanted a piece of that lifestyle for themselves.

Fantastic podcast

Fantastic podcast - interesting, insightful and the bonus episode with the full interview with Jane was a great addition. I hope the people he has hurt will overcome what this man has put them through. Bravo to the women who have spoken out, especially Jane.

Excellent listen - couldn’t stop!

Fascinating story and well documented. I really couldn’t stop listening. Interviews were very interesting and each person told their stories so well. Really have to hand it to Jane in particular. She was amazingly well spoken and articulate. Admiration for those who came forward. I hope justice is served for them all. Will recommend to friends!

Greg is a superb interviewer

Greg doesn’t make himself the star as some journalists tend to do. His sensitivity and care of Hamish’s victims is a lesson in humanity we can all learn from. Compelling series.

Articulate and Intelligent

The podcast was intriguing and very well done - I was thoroughly impressed at how eloquent and articulate “Jane” was in her interview. Hard to believe she was only 23 years old at the time. I listened to her bonus episode twice and found her to be honest, intelligent and well spoken. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories!
