We talk to real people who found themselves in extremely unusual situations, and ask them "What was that like?" Lightning strike? Lottery win? Taken hostage? Whatever my guest has been through, I get them to tell that story. I have a natural curiosity so I have lots of questions to ask. My goal, just like the name of this podcast, is to find out – What Was That Like.

Amazing podcast

I have listened to a handful of episodes so far. I have felt sympathy and sadness for car accident and gunshot victims to absolute disdain for the completely self centered, adult child, idiot interviewed in the first episode. What emotion will this pod evoke next?I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out.

Excellent

I just finished episode 1. It was very interesting and to say it was heart wrenching is an understatement. I look forward to binging. Also the podcast gets right to the subject matter.

Stop asking for money

Every five seconds. It made me unsubscribe. The host reminds us how hard he works over and over. Stop.

Awesome!!

Love the show. I especially love the host’s ability to get the best parts of the story from his guests without excessive talking himself. He’s a great interviewer. Looking forward to many more episodes of this one!!

Great newer podcast

OMGosh... I work from home as a revenue accountant and listen to many pods as background noise during the day... this podcast is touching and interesting. Ordinary people who lived through extraordinary situations. I sobbed while working listening to the first episode. Definitely recommend. Not all episodes make me cry... something different each time. Thanks :) my favorite part is the actual 911 calls.

Very interesting and compassionate podcast

Scott is an excellent interviewer. I don’t know how he finds he people he’s talked to, but each one has an amazing story of resilience in intense and deadly situations. I’ve downloaded the last three episodes and will be going through the archives for older ones. Keep up the good work!

Expect the Unexpected

One of the most unique podcast out there right now. A different story each episode about a regular person that has an extraordinarily experience. You can’t make this stuff up! Give this podcast a listen. And also follow the show on Instagram for something that will “wow” you every single day!

Excellent New Podcast

Although this a very new podcast, give it a chance! Scott does an excellent job interviewing people who have been exposed to weird situations. See what others go thru and understand where they made mistakes or deal with weird situations.

Heart wrenching insight

This was a great podcast, really enjoyed it. I liked the comment Jennifer made about what not to say ("I hit a dog once"). As a parent who has lost a daughter--different kind of situation of course--I can honestly say no one knows what to say. What I can recommend is that you don't say, "If there's anything I can do..." It's so much better to just do something. Shovel the driveway, or bring over dinner or just give a hug.Scott Johnson You've made another great podcast.
