    Narrator

For the love of god, please use a period when you speak. It is similar to listening to a whole book written with only commas.

    Narration is becoming a caricature.

Been listening to this for a long time. The stories are great. But the narration is becoming as nails on a chalkboard. It used to be very good. But now its like he trying way too hard to be different or chic. And the rising voice inflection every 5 words is getting ridiculous. Please go back to the way it used to be.

    Cool content, challenging delivery

I love the content but the host has a strange speaking inflection style that makes every sentence sound sing-songy and too distracting for me to continue.

Great Tales ~ Please go back to the old inflection

The tales are intriguing and full of history and background. I stopped listing a while ago and have recently retuned. The narrators new storytelling inflection goes up about every 4th or 5th word like asking a question. This makes the sentences choppy and hard to follow the story. Please return to your normal storytelling inflection and cadence. It was beautiful and should never have been changed. Thank you!

This guy be the best at reading inventory lists

Would have loved this, if it weren’t for the narrator’s choppy speech. Reading like they’re reading a list- items one by one, lifting at the end of each few words. The reader sounds like they’re incredibly bored. The story is absolutely lost, and that’s a shame because the reader speaks clearly and articulates, and has quite a nice voice- it’s just the inflections and halts, making it all sound like a batch of haikus breaking the syllable rule.

    Horrible narrator

I was super excited when I read the summaries, then I turned it on. I couldn’t make it through more than a few painful minutes. The narrators cadence and lack of emotion is like nails on a chalk board. It destroys what would otherwise be very interesting stories.

    Too hard to listen to

Good stories but the voice and cadence makes it way too hard to listen to. I’m out.

    Can’t listen anymore

I love the content but the reader drives me nuts. The accentuation is in the wrong places most of the time. I just can’t.

    Singsong is a disaster

Loved the show but can’t do it any more with the weird monotone they’ve developed. Unlistenable.

    What the?

I redownloaded the apple podcast app just to write this review that I don’t know how anyone can possibly listen to this podcast. The host delivers every single sentence with literally exact same cadence. I thought it was almost satirical at first. There are millions of other podcasts delivering the exact same content with much better hosts.

    Amazingly horrible to listen to

The readers voice and inflection had me signing off after about 5 minutes. Give it a try.

    Who speaks this way?

The bizarrely rhythmic way he’s speaking make me regret being able to hear. I cannot stand this.

I feel bad that I am just now finding this gem. I absolutely love the mix of show content in regards to the unexplained. My new go to.

    What happened to his speech?

I don’t know what happened in the two year break I took from listening to this podcast, but I came back to it, not recognizing the once fluid, almost poetic- now halting, unnatural, almost robotic way he is now reading these cases. It sounds rushed from an annoyed host, as well. It is just bizarre and anything from the once soothing yet eerie listening I remember. Has anyone else noticed this?

    Great stories, but delivery

Sorry Richard - long time listener. I love your content. And historically your narration. But Your delivery is getting hard to listen this last year or so. It's too slow, and you're doing this strange style of uptalking. Please try to narrate a little faster. Thanks!

    Horrible narrator’s voice

Timber never lowers at end of ANY sentence. Sounds like he has taken a load of “downers”

    Informative and thoughtful

A blend of modern mystery and thoughtful storytelling. One of the better crafted podcasts that takes their time to weave a story that engages the mind in an in-depth tale. Good with long walks or night drives.

    Unlistenable

I don’t know how anyone listens to this without immediately falling asleep. Great voice, but his inflection is the same weirdly unnatural pattern (up and down and up and down, every other word) with literally every sentence. If you want to take a nap, highly recommend, but if you want to actually hear an interesting story told well, skip this one
