Excellent English indie podcast. Crimes from across the pond

This podcast is a fantastic indie podcast, narrated and produced and written by Adam (who is a U. K. citizen). The podcast is focused on crimes in the U. K. — also it does not contain any bells or whistles in terms of “suspense” music and/or sound effects, etc. As another reviewer stated, I wish the shows were a bit longer (45-55 minutes would be ideal — Adam has a lovely accent and soothing voice), which is more than I can say about other podcasts! Adam narrates his episodes beautifully, and he has a great sense of timing and concern for the victims of these crimes. Adam also mentions which songs were topping the charts at the time each crime took place, and I think this is an excellent way to capture the mood of the times the crimes took place. This is one of the special aspects of Adam’s podcast, and there are many other elements that make for a unique listening experience. Be sure to list all of your sources Adam, and to credit when you are quoting or even closely paraphrasing. There are too many podcasts getting negative attention because they’ve been caught up in plagiarism scandals. You are too good! List the sources and acknowledge the source of your direct quotes. Your podcast is superb!

Nothing but ads

The host has a speech impediment that makes listening to integrated ads even more grating. Ugh! Unsubscribed. There’s no there there—just ads about his wife’s supposed favorite underwear. It’s amazing what people will stoop to in the way of shilling dubious products.

Mostly Great

I like the stories he picks but the timeline stuff really isn’t adding anything for me. I always skip 😬

One of the greats

While I always look forward to each week’s new installment, This week I keep thinking back - to the episode on Laura Bailey. As a true crime ‘consumer’ it’s very easy to think of it as entertainment; not forgetting the victims exactly, but also not really feeling each story’s pain. This week I did. I hope William knows just what a service he did for his sister. We all now get to know her heroism, her kindness, her grace. What a shame to have lost such a soul to violence. The host & writers of this podcast do an excellent job - reverent & honest. They did justice to Laura’s story.

One of the best

The host perfectly balances interesting stories with detail, a clever wit, and respect for the victims. Hearing about bits of English life and culture is plus for this American listener. I also love how the host begins each episode with a throwback to historical events and popular music from each story’s time period. This podcast is consistently excellent, and one of my favorite true crime podcasts. Any rating less than 5 stars was clearly made in error.

Great sense of humour lifts a dark subject

I wouldn’t normally go for a podcast with such a dark subject - a bit too much for me and it’d bring me down. Adam’s approach, however, makes it palatable for me. Some details are gruesome and quite scarring. The odd bit of well-placed, clever and intentionally ‘goofy’ humour makes it a perfect mix. Don’t change, and stay classy!
