Entertaining & Insightful

I consider myself a China expert and stumbled upon this podcast and decided to give it a listen.I give these two white chicks an A for infotainment. Informative, YES, 100% accurate, of course not, but then again nothing could ever be because even the realities in China are all context-based.Their voices are very easy to listen to, and their insights are nuanced and culturally insightful. You aren’t going to solve your China Leadership Dilemmas from this podcast, but it is a worthwhile companion for anyone Westerner planning to live and work in China.

Thoughtful and fascinating

This podcast, despite its slightly gimmicky name, offers an affectionate but accurate description of day to day life in China and rather deep insights into Chinese culture. I love it. If you are interested in learning about contemporary Chinese culture, you’ve got to subscribe to this podcast. It’s a gem.

Great listening

I studied abroad in China while in college which was about 8 years ago. When I came back I really wanted to go back but I wanted to finish my degree and my partner at the time did not want too. 8 years later and I have a very pressing urge to go back and study there. I really enjoy listening to this podcast because there is a lot of useful information. I have decided that I am going to make the move and teach English in China when my lease is up at the end of July.Matthew Schneider

Love TWCIC

Love this podcast! Being American born Chinese but growing up pretty traditional, all of their topics and conversations are relatable and so interesting.

Fantastic!!

I found out about this podcast through Zak Dychtwald’s book Young China. I listen to this podcast every day now, catching up on old episodes. The topics are compelling and the hosts do a really good job of answering questions throughly. I majored in Chinese in undergrad, graduated in 2007, met a guy while in the marching band, got married and had three kids. So, I haven’t made it to China yet. I’ve been reading a lot about modern life in China, but so far, most of the books I can find are all written by men. I really appreciate the hosts’ perspectives on life in China as foreign women. I hope they write a book one day.Their app, WrittenChinese is a very useful tool for keeping up with my language skills and is giving me the confidence to pursue the HSK level 6 certification next year. From a grateful fellow white chick—Veronica

Must Listen

I recently discovered your podcast and have bingelistened my way through most episodes. For a moment, I thought I discovered it too late and that there would be no new episodes. Was super excited when new episodes began to pop up a few weeks ago.I am an American who has been living in SouthEast Asia for the last 7 years. While I am not in China, it always makes me smile to see how similar the expat (for lack of a better word) experience can be. I can maybe not identify exactly with the China specific bits of your stories, but there seem to be certain universals to living in a country that is not your own, as well as similar frustrations, laughable moments, confusions, and surprises. Plus, I always enjoy picking up tidbits about other countries.Love the podcast. Hope there are many more episodes to come!

Bright and fun :)

I love this podcast. Started listening when I got the news I got selected to teach in China last year, after finding a lack of information online. While life had other plans (I got a job promotion I couldn’t pass up at home), I still listen, and would recommend this to anyone traveling or just curious. :)
