Throwing Shade is the political comedy podcast hosted by Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi who deliver their fresh takes on pop culture, women’s rights, and LGBT rights with hilarity and vulgarity. Spend your Thursdays with the podcast called "the perfect combination of silly, intelligent, cynical and charming" by Entertainment Weekly and "Oprah's #1 pick" by an iTunes reviewer who is not Oprah.

Yes babes!

Long time listener, first time reviewer. I have laughed out loud, cried out loud, and been enraged out loud with these two for years and years. My favorite podcast ever. Feel like Bryan and Erin are my real life friends.

The key to happiness in this life is listening to this podcast

Hi!! Two married cat dads here! I have been listening to you guys for a few months and you’re honestly just my favorite part of my commute. I enjoy sitting in traffic because I get to hear more shade being thrown! Anyway, I just explained to my husband all about Erin’s untuckit fiasco! I can’t believe how fired up I got when I finally reached the “AND THE WOMENS SHIRTS ARE TUCKED IN” part. After all of it, he googled and goes “omg I want an untuckit shirt. They’re so cute” 😂😂😂 he clearly does not share in the outrage!! But I’m with you Erin! It’s MIND-BLOWING to me. Anyway, keep up the AMAZING work! And thank you for making my commute 100000% more enjoyable. You’re both amazing! 🥰

This podcast is GOLD!

This podcast is truly my favorite. If you enjoy being informed about feminist and LGBTQ issues while also laughing your head off - look no further. I listen during my LA commute and it truly helps with my out-of-hand road rage... maybe not so much with driving itself as I am often crying with laughter. Keep up the good work Brian and Erin.

I finally remember my Apple ID password

I've been trying to write this review for years, but itunes would never let me. I've been listening for always. Have even traveled from Kentucky to see you live in Toronto, Chicago and DC! I love you both to pieces. Best podcast of all time! I feel like we're best friends. Might we be? You make my life so much better. People used to think I was nuts walking down the street with my dog laughing until I cried while I was listeing to this podcast. It's genius AND hilarious. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. XO

RICH! RICH! Anybody...uhh...struggling to reach the upper middle class?!

Have listened to this podcast for YEARS and finally gave in and signed up for Stitcher Premium through them! Well, full disclosure, I signed up for the month trial and forgot to cancel so GUESS WHO HAS A YEAR OF STITCHER PREMIUM?! While I still listen to the normal podcast because this is the only podcast in which I genuinely love the ads, I’m now able to listen to Groceries! Thanks to Bryan and Erin, I look at my local Whole Foods with utter disgust and saunter down the aisles with a level of judgment my partner has yet to agree with or even understand for that matter! 5 stars baby!!!

Long time listener. First time reviewer! This is hands-down my USDA CERTIFIED GRADE A FAVE PODCAST. This is what made me bite the bullet to subscribe to Stitcher Premium (for back episodes and Groceries, obvi). I recommend this podcast to everyone to the point where my friends often remind me that I have already told them to watch. A combination of funny bone ticklin' good times AND with shrewd insights into this bonkers world that we all share. Hooray for Bryan and Erin and the whole Throwing Shade team!!

Glad I found it

I started listening to Throwing Shade after I heard them on Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend a couple times. I started waaaay back at the beginning, listening to new 2019 episodes as they were released. I laugh out loud a whole lot, which is something I really look for in my not-true-crime podcasts. My only complaint is that I will immediately delete an episode as soon as Erin starts doing her bits where she is imitating some garbage person, and she screams or fake-laughs/cries right into the microphone, getting louder and louder. Girl, you're not new to mics, you know better than to scream directly into them when people have their volume up to hear the rest of the show at its normal levels. Also a bunch of the episodes have a considerable sound level difference between the intro/in-between music and their speaking volume, and it's almost painful when you aren't in a position to adjust the volume of the show within a second to stop the music from blasting your speakers or ear drums out. Still getting 5 stars though, since im so far behind when i delete one because of sound differences or screaming, there's another one right after it!

I'm obsessed!! Every Thursday when I wake up I'm so giddy with excitement for the day's new Throwing Shade episode that my cat freaks out. Thank you both for bringing sanity (and insanity,) smarts, and great shoes to this life! Could you please bring back Culotte Of Not? I've never laughed harder in my life. Throwing Shade is THE BEST podcast and I need more more MORE!

WAIT, ROSE! A podcast can’t be your BEST FRIEND!

Dear Throwing Shade,I have OCD. Knowing this very well, I let very few things touch my heart. I found out about Erin and Throwing Shade through Getting Curious with Jonathan van Ness, and MY. LIFE. HAS. CHANGED. Not only my apartment is invariably filled with ROARING laughter every Thursday morning, but also, thanks to the scrupulous research and amazing thoughtfulness that goes into the discussion of urgent women’s and LGBTQ+ issues, I feel I am becoming a feminastier (i.e. better) person. (I also make sure I share whatever snippet of information I can glean from the podcast with my family and friends whenever.)I am a Turkish gay man, who started listening to your podcast in Beirut, and in the past year continued to do so in Ankara and Maastricht, where it became a friend I can always trust on having a good time with, as all of my friends were far away. You made crises bearable with chuckles and hope for the fixability of this wretched world. And now I live in LA! I was so excited to move to your city to begin my PhD and whenever I leave my neighborhood, I still have butterflies in my stomach I might bump into you (if I am lucky, during grocery shopping!) I can’t wait for your next live show to see you in flesh, let it ALL out and feel like a complete person, but in the meanwhile, please bear with me as I fangirl with an exorbitant number of likes and comments on your social media accounts. I love you guys to the Mondeaux Condo Planet and back 🌹🧿🌹🧿🌹

Laughing Out Loud in San Antonio

I started listening to your podcast last week, and laughed out loud while driving. I struggled between 4 stars and 5 stars because of two things...Erin’s horrendous voices while doing the sponsor ads (I think they will make more money if you just use your own voice so people can focus on the product and not your terrible interpretation of whatever) and the talk about abortion. I’m a mother of three, and aside from performing abortion to save the mother’s health, I cringe when I hear people talk about ending a baby’s life, regardless of the circumstances. Adoption is a beautiful way for people who can’t conceive to have a family. Otherwise, you make me laugh out loud. 😊

I love love you guys, this podcast brings joy to my soul. I am Jamaican man, I found this podcast because of Bryan because a part of “ will you accept rose” family, and I’ve been a fan since. However Erin which is the love of my life, reported that Allison Felix ( my favorite athlete and great athlete of all time in my opinion) broke Usain Bolt record to become the fastest person in the world. And you had me all pumped and fired up. Then upon searching for the article to firm it, however not the case she broke the record of winning the most gold medals. Still super excited! I have learned so much from you guys and will never stop telling random I meet when I ride bus to listen to your podcast.

Queer Country Music

On the most recent episode Erin mentioned she has HAD IT with the straight love story narratives of country music. You guys should check out the Highwomen, an all-female country music supergroup with some great songs and particularly one ‘If She Ever Leaves Me’ which is a lesbian country love song sung by the awesome Brandi Carlile.

Yikes

I started listening because I wanted a female hosted political comedy podcast and this is the best I could find. I couldn’t even get through five minute because these two were so annoying. The second a comedian needs to scream their jokes, is the second they stop being funny.
