Just found this gem
I’ve listened to NRP since 1982, currently listen to several NPR podcasts, but just discovered this one. It’s along the line of ‘the rest of the story’. I am watching Apple’s Tehran series and wanting to know more about Iran and it’s interactions with other countries and I found 2 stories on Throughline, giving me some great background and tying together some threads of info I’ve learned over the years. I just started a paid subscription and am really excited to listen to more!

Vietnam war
You’re getting hit call wrong No one understood the Vietnam war The protesters were against the war and the draft and not the veterans The right came up with this nonsense about it being about the veterans to cover their tracks

Before Roe: The Physicians' Crusade = Wow!
I always love Throughline and enjoy learning about history, but this episode prompted me to finally write a review because it was amazing! I had no idea about the history of male doctors' takeover of the female-led field of women's healthcare so they could control reproduction. I'm always stunned by how one or two people in history completely changed the course of a certain aspect of our lives, and I love having that perspective as I look at our reality. Thank you, Throughline!

Disappointed with the 187 episode
The whole episode sounds like Mao- or CCP made history for simplified Chinese. If you ask the opinions from the side that keeps the traditional Chinese characters, you will probably hear a different story related to the history of building modern Chinese characters. You can do better NPR…

The Absolute Best!
I look forward to listening to each episode of throughline. I either learn something new or corrected on something I thought I knew. Whichever it is I am always enlightened. The hosts Rund Abdelfatah and Ramtin Arablouei are so good at making me feel I am involved in the conversation. The topics are relevant and the invited guests are knowledgeable. This all all brings together for me a better understanding of how the past influences the present. Good job!

It’s at the top!
When people ask me what podcast I’d recommend I tell them to listen to Throughline! One of my fav episodes is Ep. 184 The Shadows of the Constitution.

Too much recycled content
This used to be a solid podcast. Lately it mostly pumps out recycled content. If you’re new to Throughline, enjoy! I’ve decided it’s time to unsubscribe since everything is old.

Annoying style
It has good information, but the style is annoying. Actors are overly emphatic. They sound like they're auditioning to voice act in a Disney cartoon.

Mixed Bag
Insightful at times, yet tends to never stray far from the party lineCould be much better if their editor was more objective

This is one of my all-time favorites
Throughline reaches back into history to help you understand the present, using the excellent writing and presentation I have come to associate with NPR.

Impressive enjoyable journalism (historical, sociological)
I’m so hungry for analysis that doesn’t insult our intelligence. This one is well written (or not boring) and thorough. Love it.

An amazing and captivating show
I do not think you necessarily have to love history to enjoy the show. I have to admit I am a history lover though. The connections made between history and the ties to today are beautifully done. I have to say Throughline has had me hooked from the first episode I listened to. Thank you for everything you all do & keep up the great work!-KP
