Love and Lore

As a fan of X-plain the X-men, I was delighted to see the Miles was taking on a new topic. Elizabeth adds a finishing touch that made made listening just a delight. After the first episode, I went and got the comics so I could read along! If you want to know about Thor in comics, this is where you need to start.

Part review part radio drama

Miles expresses so much enthusiasm for Thor in his other podcast, I'm really happy for him that he gets to do this run on part of the Thor comics. I personally have never been into Marvel's Thor, but I know that Miles's love of it can pull me through to enjoying this journey. It doesn't have the same level of biting analysis from Xplain the Xmen (not surprising since there's no Jay around) but it still blends commentary and explanation that you'd get from their sibling X-men podcast. The grand surprise is the reading of lines from the comic book. I don't know what it is about Elisabeth's voice and reading but I love listening to her speak as different characters. Miles always does a great job reading as different characters and their Odin provides a fun change of pace as well. I would love to see this group of people put together a old-time-radio style podcast

Thor Podcast

Great production value, outstanding research, and incredible exuberance by the hosts. The two hosts work very well together. Only one drawback for me and that was the almost-every-episode need to use foul language. Other than that, kudos! I’d love to hear the two of you tackle the Roy Thomas years of Thor. Fantastic work by him as well.

I guess pausing podcasts to review them is a thing I do now?

Only for podcasts I like, mind you.Anyway, the first thing I wanted to note that both Miles and Elizabeth read — that's not a strong enough word. Deliver? Declaim? — Walter Simonson's epic words so dramatically that sometimes I get chills as if I were reading them myself, if that makes any sense.Next, I paused during Episode 7, "The Executioner's Last Stand" because Miles described Skurge is "a guy who fights with an axe and his shirt has a picture of an axe on it" and it made me giggle and giggle.Ok, I can press Play now. Yay!

Wonderfully entertaining and fun

As someone who has been out of comics for a long time, I decided to hop back in. I started searching "comic podcasts" and this one came up. They basically run through Walt Simonsons entire run of Thor, about 50ish issues during the 80s. Each episode covers 3-4 episodes. The production level is really all-in, with sound effects and top-notch editing. I read each batch of issues then turned on the podcast, and reading was all the more fun knowing that I'm going to get the extra breakdowns, and would look forward to finishing the issues just so I could listen to the podcast. It doens't hurt that the actual comic book they're covering is AWESOME... pretty much universally praised as some of the best Thor work. So if you're into Thor, or comics at all, and want to have a month or so of fun while reading some great work, check this one out!

Behold! An Epic Podcast!

I started listening to this podcast to bridge the gap while Miles' other podcast, Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men, was on break. It was well worth my time. Miles and Elisabeth made this both fun and educational, and made me want to read the source material. My only complaint is that it had to end.

Great podcast

As a fan of the xmen podcast Miles co-created, I knew this would be a good review of the Thor comics. But it was even better than expected! I listen in the car with my kids who have become addicted with me. We're actually disappointed to have it end. They should do another short run next summer!

A recognition of merit!

This podcast is a freaking delight. The hosts have wonderful chemistry and an obvious affection for their subject matter. This podcast could totally lift Mjolnir!
