Take it with a grain of salt

I wanted to like this but Josh doesn’t completely know what he’s talking about and doesn’t always give great advice. Sometimes it seems like he makes up answers rather than research the subject. I’ve heard him say robots.txt is where you add 301 redirects, using a CDN is the same as caching, and various other things that just aren’t true. Recently someone asked about his stance on disavowing bad backlinks and he went through an entire explanation of how to check your site for broken links.I hear questionable info on every show. That’s not to say there isn’t anything helpful here but Josh doesn’t have a solid grasp on SEO/SEM and you have to know enough to know when to disregard his advice.

Best Blogging Podcast Ever

If you have a blog you owe it to yourself to listen to Theory of Content. Amber and Josh give their listeners a wealth of information about search optimization and how to create good content in general. I’ve listened to each show multiple times and it’s changed how I view my site and what I’m doing.I actually have an inkling now of how to do keyword research by using google search console or webmaster tools. And the way they present the information is fun!

I’ve been binge listening to this podcast and absolute love Josh and Amber, and ALL the info they’re sharing. The blogging world can be confusing, and they cover so many different topics. I’ve definitely picked up some knowledge, but need to listen to like 500 more episodes this summer! Haha. 😂

Actionable Items

This is an amazing podcast. I love their chemistry and I always learn something new. I especially love when they interview seasoned bloggers who are also having problems and they are getting down to the details on how they would approach it. I love their approach of "Your site ain't broke!"

Ten Stars

I’ve been blogging for 11 years. I’ve fostered awesome community, do live video, started a successful membership. But I’ve never known a thing about basic SEO. So glad I found this podcast as a MV participant. I’m binging and learning so much! I’m making changes immediately and when I see the impact, I’m gonna beg to be on this podcast to share. Thank you, thank you! Josh, I love how you put us at ease assuring us that what we don’t know won’t hurt us. But what we CAN know can certainly help. So unlike my first experience with an SEO who gave me so much anxiety, I buried myself under a rock. You make me want to learn. Thank you again! God bless.

Amber is awesome! Who is this other guy?

I was excited to listen to this as I’m a member of Mediavine and Amber has a wealth of knowledge. However I didn’t know who Josh was before this podcast and find his approach and comments kind of off-putting? One guest the first question he said something to the tune of “wow that’s a lot of pageviews- are you a Mom?” And another time something along the lines of “these Moms sitting in their houses creating all this traffic”. How about brilliant business women who work from home that happen to be Moms? I am a Mom who works from home and find these comments weird. Nobody would ask a man with a successful online business if he’s a Dad? Amber could do better on her own!
