Patrick’s podcast is priceless

I’ve learned so much from Patrick. He is candid about his knowledge and is a great personality on the mic. You’ll also find that there’s a great community of people who listen to the Wandering DP, especially if you’re a supporter on Patreon. I’d recommend this podcast to anyone in the industry, especially cinematographers and directors. The breakdowns and guest conversations are incredibly insightful, and his honesty is priceless.

Step Your Game Up

There are a LOT of podcasts out there, the vast majority of them are trash. This one is not. Patrick breaks down—with brutal honesty & wit—every step of the filmmaking process. Deep dives into commercial and narrative production, lighting, blocking and script breakdowns, and interviews with the people making the films you aspire to make, this breadth of knowledge would take years to gather on your own. Stop reading this review and start listening.

Fantastic industry insights and education

Whether you’re a beginning filmmaker or a seasoned pro, there’s valuable information in every episode. Patrick breaks down what it’s like being a working DP while deconstructing his own work and the work of other DP’s and directors. He interviews top working pro’s and gets to the nitty gritty of making moving images and storytelling. As each episode ends, I immediately want more.

Consistently Great for emerging DP’s

Patrick is a Commercial Cinematographer that breaks down his own projects, talks about complications, and gear used. If you are new at being a DP or even a Director, the knowledge passed though his lips are so sweet that you’ll hide them in your thank bank.

Subjects are great

well done, love how you really get into the tech, but also the feelings behind the artist you interview. Well researched. Glad the intro music is getting better.

The Best Cinematography Podcast

I’ve been on a cinematography podcast binge over the past year and have listened through all the major ones from beginning to end. Wandering DP is by far the most comprehensive and best mix of tech, artistry, and industry knowledge.I’ve noticed improvements in my work since studying his breakdowns and the interviews are really inspirational. The host, Patrick, has an odd, but charming sense of humor and just the right personal touch.Note: The breakdown episodes really do need to be listened to while referencing the stills in the show notes.
