    No credibility

You lost what little credibility you had when you asked for people to help you aid a fugitive that committed a felony. Sure she had a sob story. That doesn’t give her the right to kidnap a child.

    Could be edited down

Interviews with family members are way too long with a lot of information that isn’t relevant to the missing persons case

    Eh

I think the story’s are interesting , I just find listening to it a little difficult at times. The narrator sounds as if she is reading off a script or from a book and is not captivating with the stories.

    Aiding felons?

So now we’re aiding fugitives that have been on the run for 25 years? This podcast has crossed the line and is now doing harm.

    Genuine

Never having written a podcast review, I’m finally taking the time to write this long overdue one. It’s clear, from the outset, that Marissa Jones genuinely cares about the stories she covers, and the people involved. I’ve listened to every single one of “The Vanished” episodes. Each has that fine balance of voices from those searching, friends & family members affected- plus Marissa’s own helpful narrative. Her questions are revealing and truth seeking, inviting the listener to form their own opinion and encourages curiosity. To provide a fair, balanced and objective story, she always provides police and authorities with the opportunity to participate and provide their insights & angles. Unfortunately, there’s quite a remarkable number of dismissive or evasive parties who don’t seem to be invested in solving these mysteries; may not truly understand the reach of podcasts (especially this one); or cannot comprehend the interest in the community & viability of public engagement in being of some help. It’s been riveting to hear Marissa grow as a podcaster, to hear the updates - which have often arisen as a direct result of her reporting- and see comfort (and sometimes even closure) to those that are searching for their loved ones. From a purely practical perspective- people don’t just vanish, do they? To know and understand that there are so many missing persons, and know that this number grows greater every day, is illuminating & decries the depth of this disturbing phenomena- which is absolutely impacting our lives, whether we know it or not…I’ll continue to be a loyal listener and support the efforts of the “The Vanished” team and encourage any thinking individual, who values compassion more than sensationalism in storytelling to join the listening community.

    Getting boring

Relies too much on friends and family interviews. At times, interview subjects go on and on about background information pr stuff that isn’t very relevant. The episodes could be shorter. It would be a lot more coherent if the narrator told the story and used the interviews for support.

    Why

Why would you have that nasty Durban from the generation why read stuff on your podcast? You don’t want the stanch of his creepiness on your show.

I had high hopes to get into a new podcasts but this I listen to the first 3 and can’t go on… These are child kidnappings with an undertone of child sex trafficking. I can’t do it. Boo

    Her voice!! Is it computer-generated?

This would be entertaining except for the host’s voice. I’m not sure why you’d have someone who sounds like a computer-or-AI-generated voice narrate a podcast. Honestly Siri sounds more human. It’s awful.

    Best true crime pod

I’ve tried getting into other true crime pods, but none compare to Marissa’s narrative style. She presents the information in a perfectly unbiased way (or as much as possible) and lets the listener come to their own conclusions. She treats the missing persons with respect, no matter the circumstances. Great listen.

    I Tried

As a person who loves this type of content, I was thrilled that I found this podcast. However I really REALLY tried to give it a chance but it’s sooooooo boring. The families/friends that she interviews, they just ramble and it goes on and on and on- like I’m constantly zoning out and when I zone back in I’m just so confused on what’s going on. . I don’t have a problem with the hosts voice, it’s the just the recordings.

    Fresh, Deeply Human Storytelling

This podcast is heartbreakingly real and important work. The storytelling is well done and voices of the friends and family of the missing make it super personal. I love the long form stories and minimal ad breaks. This show quickly became one of my favorites.

    Was a fan

For about two years straight, I was a huge fan of this show. I never minded the longer interviews or sometimes lower quality (not all quests will be able to have the equipment folks are used to hearing.) But now the interviews tell the story and only hearing their side of a question feels… robotic & unattached. It’s gotten to a point where the host is barely even there. Go back to telling them facts with those who know them and dip into what they’ve heard.

    To those who look down on addicts;

To those who look down upon addicts; You’re the reason they’re still using. I love love love LOVE LOVE this show so much, the newest episode? IS IN MY HOME TOWN! Everett WA has been COMPLETELY TAKEN OVER BY DRUGS, I’m actually 15 minutes north in Marysville, and my little town was a lot better a decade ago. I myself? Am 16+ months sober from opiates, those “Percocet 30’s” that are really fentanyl that have been a HUGE factor in the people who have passed away due to an overdose. Let’s be honest, until you go through it you can’t possibly know what makes an addict use, but you can LISTEN and choose to UNDERSTAND it even if you don’t LIKE it. I appreciate this episode about Antonio (I didn’t know him, I’m a few years younger) because I was a single mom in the middle of my second abusive relationship when I started using, that guy introduced me to the world of drugs and my parents started buying my drugs for me because they were using ME as their dealer. I just want everyone to understand how much drugs can CONTROL people, it literally REWIRES YOUR BRAIN, it RUINS families, and you can blame the addict all you want nothing will get better, you need to blame the drug, the actual issue. The self esteem issues, the depression the anxiety, etc etc etc if you aren’t willing to help? You’re not allowed to judge.
