I Love This Podcast
I'd visited Disneyland once when I was a kid. Living in Texas, we weren't local to SoCal. I'd been to Walt Disney World once as an older kid, when it was still only two parks. 30 years after that I was able to take my family to Disneyland for a summer vacation and fell in love with the place all over again. I experoenced heavy withdrawals when we returned. I made it back for a long weekend before a convention in Long Beach last fall, which also happened to be my birthday weekend. I again experienced post-Disneyland blues, so I dove into learning as much as I could about the park, including finding Lynn & Ken's first book on Audible. The book included references to the podcast, so I naturally looked it up. I started late 2018 with the first available episode and have diligently made my way episode by episode, listening to the entire run until I got caught up this week. Lynn & Ken's insight into the backstage goings on provide a unique backdrop to the extensive history that they lovingly present with care and detail. The guests they have on are also incredibly insightful, from the various other former cast members, to fellow authors and Disney historians. Not only has the podcast helped to, as they say, extend my last Disneyland vacation, but as I have been going through an extremely difficult time in my personal life, provided me with a much-needed diversion the past several months as I have been trying to cope. Every episode has felt like sitting down with a couple of friends and just talking Disneyland. Admittedly, the presentation is not overly polished and professional, but to me that adds to the sincerity of the podcast. It also means that I never doubt the candor and honesty of the hosts. My only lament now is that I am no longer able to binge listen to episodes and will have to wait two weeks between getting fresh ones, but I will gladly do it and look forward to the next. Big thanks to Lynn & Ken for creating one of my favorite podcasts and keeping Walt's magic alive for me all the way over here in Texas.
