My Favorite Podcast

This is my favorite podcast. Lynn and Ken are knowlegeable and welcoming hosts. I love the current events section of the podcast and even Ken's corny jokes. The production values are top-notch and every guest brings a new pespective on the past and present of Disneyland. I'm a Sweep Spot Patreon subscriber and enjoy the bonus episodes every month. You guys have rekindled my love of the Happiest Place on Earth. Keep up the great work!

Best Disneyland podcast out there

The Sweep Spot podcast is the best Disneyland podcast I’ve listened to. I have spent the past 5 months listening to all 272 episodes (minus the first 4 or so that I couldn’t find) and the current hosts, Ken and Lynn are terrific! Lynn’s sincerity and professionalism are the perfect complement to Ken’s wit, “dad humor” and radio voice. They provide a perfect mix of Disney history, with stories from their time working in the parks as sweepers. My favorite interviews have been with legends such as Toni Baxter and Rolly Crump, but I also love episodes with Dave Smith, Jim Korkis, and David Koenig. As a former Southern Californian, and a current Southern Utahn, I feel like I relate to both Ken and Lynn and really appreciate their hard work and dedication to putting each episode out. Keep up the great work!

I Love This Podcast

I'd visited Disneyland once when I was a kid. Living in Texas, we weren't local to SoCal. I'd been to Walt Disney World once as an older kid, when it was still only two parks. 30 years after that I was able to take my family to Disneyland for a summer vacation and fell in love with the place all over again. I experoenced heavy withdrawals when we returned. I made it back for a long weekend before a convention in Long Beach last fall, which also happened to be my birthday weekend. I again experienced post-Disneyland blues, so I dove into learning as much as I could about the park, including finding Lynn & Ken's first book on Audible. The book included references to the podcast, so I naturally looked it up. I started late 2018 with the first available episode and have diligently made my way episode by episode, listening to the entire run until I got caught up this week. Lynn & Ken's insight into the backstage goings on provide a unique backdrop to the extensive history that they lovingly present with care and detail. The guests they have on are also incredibly insightful, from the various other former cast members, to fellow authors and Disney historians. Not only has the podcast helped to, as they say, extend my last Disneyland vacation, but as I have been going through an extremely difficult time in my personal life, provided me with a much-needed diversion the past several months as I have been trying to cope. Every episode has felt like sitting down with a couple of friends and just talking Disneyland. Admittedly, the presentation is not overly polished and professional, but to me that adds to the sincerity of the podcast. It also means that I never doubt the candor and honesty of the hosts. My only lament now is that I am no longer able to binge listen to episodes and will have to wait two weeks between getting fresh ones, but I will gladly do it and look forward to the next. Big thanks to Lynn & Ken for creating one of my favorite podcasts and keeping Walt's magic alive for me all the way over here in Texas.

Loud breathing

I discovered this podcast when I stumbled upon their booth at the D23 expo. I like how they do current event updates. My favorite part is when they talk about their time at Disney or have guests that tell stories about things that the general public would not know. 4 stars for spotty sound quality and ... distractingly loud breathing.

Very Interesting and Informative

I discovered this podcast a while back, downloaded all of the episodes, and have caught up on all of the episodes over a period of several months. Wow - what a history over several years of Disneyland and several years of podcasting. Lynn was far from the greatest of speakers in the early episodes ("um" up to three times per sentence!!!) but the unique content from the perspective of former cast members was so interesting I bore with those early episodes in which former co-host Laura carried the ball. If you don't know what a honeybucket is or what "Code H" stands for - you don't know Disneyland as well as you might think you do. Unfortunately, Laura left the show somewhere around episode 98 and there were a rocky 3-4 episodes where Lynn all but lost his way in the absence of a partner - that is, until Ken came permanently on board. Not only that, but by about that point forward, Lynn finally was reaping the benefits of podcasting experience and since those early-100's shows with Ken has greatly increased his confidence and delivery and is obviously now a comfortable speaker. As for Ken, he has sounded qualified to be a professional broadcaster from the beginning. The humor and banter between the two is highly entertaining, and the shows are always packed with super-interesting and informative content. The coverage of current events is always well-researched and well-presented, and there is almost always a super-knowledgeable and informative guest. Best of all are the ones where the treasure trove of Disney knowledge extraordinaire Jim Korkis is the guest. The only reasons I give this show 4 rather than a full 5 stars are 1) audio quality from some guests is poor. This is probably due to phone connections and can't be helped, and fortunately is a rare occurrence, but there were a couple of episodes that were so bad in this regard I just gave up and skipped them. 2) Starting with the last couple of years or so, WAY too much time (anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes) is spent plugging the Sweeping the Kingdom book and the sponsors. But if this is necessary to keep the show running, it's worth it. And be that what it may, it doesn't change one bit the fact that this is still a very entertaining and informative podcast and well worth listening to - from the very beginning. I now regret that having caught up, I will no longer be able to binge-listen to new episodes but will have to resign myself to waiting two weeks between episodes. Yikes!

Loved show 262 with Tom Morris

What a great episode with Tom Morris! So much neat information and history he has. I could have listened another couple of hours with him. Hope he does another episode with you guys in the near future. One thing he said though puzzled me..... he said Journey Into The Imagination was not opened the day Epcot opened and according to Wikipedia he’s right, it opened March 1983. I was at Epcot the day it opened and I seemed to recall it was open and we went on the ride, but then again I went back in the fall of 1983 so maybe that’s what I remember.Nice work guys! My favorite podcast

I listen to a lot of very different podcasts, especially Disney ones, but this one is my favorite. The interviews and discussions are amazing and I love learning more about the place I love from people who lived through it’s history/worked there. They also introduced me to the magic candle company which is also amazing. Thanks for the great content and for being reliable with your schedule, I always look forward to your new episodes and am finally making my way through your older episodes.

Ken Pellman for Disney Fan Community President!!

I have been a member of the online Disney Fan Community since 1999, when I discovered an article written by Ken Pellman for Laughingplace.com.Ken had written the article in 1994 when the Disneyland Skyway closed and it was just perfect; storytelling at it's finest. It kicked off a lifetime of interest in Disney Theme Park History. The online fan community was very different back then: NewsGroups, Yahoo! Clubs, Discussion Forums, etc. Now we have podcasts to add a much more personal connection to other fans.Ken joined this podcast after a few episodes and he made the podcast so much better!Lynn, to paraphrase Randy Jackson of American Idol fame "speaking extemporaneously, it's just not your thing dawg". I know you try very hard and we appreciate it, but it's just not your thing.Thankfully, Ken is able to interject when things get a little slow. Thank you Ken for getting me started on a lifetime journey so many years ago.

I Really Tried!

I wanted so much to love this podcast. Disneyland is my favorite place in the world. These are former cast members sharing stories behind the scenes. Everything sounds great.Unfortunately it all goes downhill from there. The host always sounds like he’s forgotten what he was going to say, and most of the hour is spent listening to long pauses, “ummmm”s and jokes that just don’t quite land. I listened to shows in all the years since 2011 to give it a fair chance, and he does not get better.I was also bothered that some of the information he and his co hosts give is incorrect. I think most of his stuff is correct, and I’m sure his personal experiences are accurate, but some of the lore and history is not.I’m glad he has fans who listen and support him, sadly I just can’t be one.

Absolute joy

There are not many Disney themed podcasts that fill me with the amount of joy that this one brings. The incredible interviews they have had with with Disney legends brings me back. The love for the magic Walt intended Disneyland to be, that is evoked so well by the hosts, keeps me here. I feel as if I am visiting Disneyland or having a conversation with someone who loves it as much as I do every time I listen. Please keep up the amazing work, we love everything that you create.
