The City of Surrey says a report on its planned transition from RCMP to a municipal police force is complete and has been delivered to the provincial government for review and approval.

Mayor Doug McCallum says the document is a "landmark moment'' for the city and an important step in bringing local accountability to Surrey residents. He says the next step will be public engagement sessions. Those sessions begin this afternoon at 3pm at the Cloverdale Red Centre.

But the report has not been released to the public. And the only opposition councillor on Surrey City Council says this consultation is not good enough.

Guest: Linda Annis

Surrey City Councillor representing Surrey First
