Great perspective

I love hearing the perspectives of the pros and hearing the inside scoop on how things work with different leagues and how to approach a new team and a new league and hearing the dynamic between players. Great stuff. I wish you were just going to continue.

Highly recommend

Another great podcast from Howler. Bobby Warshaw gives us a soccer podcast from the point of view of the players. It forgoes just talking about results and the framing of players as celebrities and really delves into the relationships that current and former professional soccer players have with the many aspects of the (usually MLS/USMNT/USWNT-focused) game. Each guest that comes on gets fairly candid and provides personal insight into the topic of the week, providing a sense of transparency that you usually don't get elsewhere. I highly recommend it.

Not good with titles but it's good

A really cool idea. Interesting insights into how pros think about the game and how they interact with each other. Some audio quality issues but it doesn't diminish the quality of the content being put out

Good stuff

Bobby Warshaw does an excellent job of looking beyond the pitch and digs deep into the world of the pro soccer player. The recent episodes on preseason and injuries were excellent. It's great stuff for any fan of the game but especially for younger players. The one thing I've learned from listening is that it's not always the most talented that succeed. It is talent combined with a willingness to put in the hard work off the pitch that lead to success. That is a good lesson for the non-soccer world as well. Thanks, Bobby and Howler Magazine, I look forward to listening every week.

Fourth wall broken

Great podcast for current players, former players, and people who want to understand what it's like to play. Even when I vehemently disagree with Bobby's stance on an issue I can see the logic behind how he reached his conclusion. If sensationalist reactive punditry drives you crazy then you will definitely enjoy a podcast where players talk candidly and thoughtfully about the nuances of the game.

Fun and informative

Love this podcast. There are many podcasts out there talking about all the stats and goals that happened over the weekend. This podcast dives deep into specific topics which I always wanted to know.

Great insiders perspective

The Play has gone from being my favorite soccer podcast to my favorite podcast, period. Incredibly insightful and candid. Wide variety of topics presented from the insiders point of view. I always learn something and I always end up saving the episodes for a re-listen with my kids. Great variety of guests but Bobby Warshaw as the host, with his willingness to share his gift for self-reflection, is what makes the show work.

Something Different

I'm not much of a review writer, but I absolutely love this pod and I want it to be around for a long time. I don't always agree with Bobby's take on things, but it's an incredible thing to be able to hear players talk about the game from their POV. Lots of pods have player interviews, but these don't feel like interviews. Its like you're listening in on a group of players talking, which makes it unique. Please keep it up.

Great premise

Good execution. I love the inside look on life as a pro. I wish for some episodes like they used to do, where a play in a game is surgically analysed by pros. I learn so much from those insights. Thanks, Bobby!
