    This podcast gave me automatonophobia

Help, I can’t stop listening. It has me, the podcast has trapped me. I am stuck here as the show plays over and over again. The Beholding craves more.

Listen in order, sometimes you have to get through the slow to get to some of the best episodes

Excellent writing and voice acting. Easy to get into if you give it a chance. While sometimes you question the story and scratch your head at some sound effects, you end up with a complete story and an excellent ending. Highly recommend!

    Noise as an aesthetic

I can’t imagine anyone willing to sit here and listen to the non-stop artificial tape compression effect. Unlistenable

    Best Podcast

I would like to start out by stating that I have never written a review for a podcast before. I have both listened to and enjoyed quite a number of podcasts amongst a variety of genres, but this one takes the cake, and because of that I have to write a review. Not only is it enthralling with its magnificent storytelling and voice acting, but it has proven to be rather thought provoking as well. It is common with many horror anthology podcasts to find episodes that are hits and others that are misses. That is, it is to be expected that not every single episode would pique your interest. This podcast however, differs in that every episode is creative, descriptive, and creepy in all of the best ways. I have yet to stumble upon a miss and I am a couple of seasons in. As I continue to binge the episodes, I am pleasantly surprised with the deep and well-thought out storylines that each episode has to offer. I’m excited to continue binging and already have a few theories. Incredible work!!

    F%#*ing incredible

Pardon the profane header to my review. But this podcast is great. I’m a big fan of horror. Not the “makes me sick to my stomach, why did they buy so many gallons of fake blood, unnecessarily brutal, violent, and sex filled” kind of horror- but the genuine horror. The stuff that leaves you going to bed at night thinking about how grateful you are that you live in this version of the world where you at least have a sporting chance. This story line is excellently executed and well written/narrated. If your a fan of this sort of thing, I highly recommend it. It’s like watching horror films on Halloween night when I was a kid. Big thanks to the ones who put this together.

    Excellent podcast

I usually don't revisit media, even if I really enjoyed it, but I've listened to this thing all the way through about 4 times. As a horror anthology it's very good, Johnny Sims brings a lot of character to each piece and they give you just enough weird to make things creepy. Eventually though the show leans into the serialization and introduces other speaking characters, and IMO that's where the show really begins to shine. So many terrific performances! The show manages to balance the episodic horror with characters learning and growing and changing, and expanding the setting, and building up to a phenomenal overarching storyline. Special shout out to Imogen Harris as Helen, delivering my favorite performance of the whole show.

    Subtle creeping horror, highly recommend

The Magnus Archives is one of the best podcasts I have listened to, and I listen to a LOT of podcasts. It is the subtle, creeping kind of horror I am always looking for on creepypasta type forums but never find. It is not too obvious or cheesy, and leaves you with shivers up your spine and lots of theories. It assumes the listener is smart, and makes you figure out a lot of what is going on on your own. And some questions are never answered.

One of my favorite works of fiction ever

Genuinely so good. If you are hesitant on starting it because it’s long, or something, don’t be anymore. The writing is so clever, and the way all the loose threads get tied together. It’s genuinely scary, and made me jump at some parts. The voice acting is five star, and that combined with the sound design pulls you into the story, and creates a very immersive experience. This needs to be turned into a tv series.

    Incredible

This is a shockingly original and consistent series. It reminds me of a page turner book. Not sure why this podcast isn’t more famous but what a wonderful thing to find. I’m catching up and sad to hear it’s ended but so glad there are more episodes ahead of me yet. I’m surprised this hasn’t been made into a video steaming series, I imagine they have been approached but it would need to be the right creator and streamer. Well done.

    Brilliant show

I cannot say enough about how well done this show it. It’s so well written - the weaving of the individual episode “stories” into the broader overarching story is exceptional. The acting from the main characters is superb. I have recommended this series to everyone I know. Brilliantly done, Rusty Quill!
