From 1984 to 1994, Granada Television produced what is arguably the best (and most complete) depiction of legendary detective’s Adventures, Memoirs, Case-Books and many Returns. This podcast will examine that timeless series with a specific eye on Jeremy Brett in the role he was destined to immortalize.

A Surprise Treat

I have been a big fan of Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes since I was eleven years old. The first episode I saw was “The Solitary Cyclist.” I thought Brett as Holmes was the coolest man I had ever seen, especially in the scene where he boxes Woodley. I have watched the series multiple times; it never gets old.I am thankful to have stumbled upon this podcast. It’s a pleasure to listen to Gus and Luke discuss each episode with so much respect for Jeremy Brett’s craft and with eyes for the many details in each episode. Well done!

Immersive and Fantastic!

I am so glad to have found this podcast. Absolutely fantastic podcast! I, like many, would say the quintessential portrayal of Sherlock Holmes was Jeremy Brett. The production, the discussions, the inclusion of sound bits from each episode makes for such an immersive experience. As a pipe smoker, this has got to be the perfect audio companion for any pipe smoking (tobacco of course) Holmes fan. Great job guys, keep up the great work!

Best Sherlock series, best Sherlock podcast…

This podcast, devoted to the best Sherlock Holmes TV series, is itself one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. Entertaining, educational, moving and wonderfully produced. It’s a dream come true for Sherlockians in general and admirers of the Granada series in particular. To quote Sherlock Holmes (as performed by Jeremy Brett) at the end of “The Six Napoleons” - Thank you! THANK YOU

Such a joy!

The internet has made the world smaller, but for most of the 2000’s it seemed like I was the only one out there who held Brett’s Holmes in such high (fanatical?) regard. What a delight to stumble on this podcast via a YouTube post of the hosts’ interview with Stephen Fry. Listening to Ep. 1 just now but wanted to immediately send my wishes of thanks and encouragent to Gus and Luke, so excited looking ahead to this ride and becoming more intimately acquainted with my favorite actor of all time, a man who had more charisma in one of his flaring nostrils than an entire legion of Holmeses since.

Quality podcast!

OK, to be perfectly honest, I've only listened to the first episode so far. But that being said, I love these stories, Jeremy Brett and this podcaster's passion for the subject matter. I first came upon the Granada series in the 90's and became fascinated with both Sherlock Holmes & Victorian England ever since. I literally can't wait to listen to episode 2 and beyond. Thank you so much for creating this podcast.

The best Sherlock Holmes

Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes is positively the greatest in the history of stage and screen. I loved the original Granada TV show from the mid 80s. Now I’ve found a podcast dedicated to the actor and the show. I am elated. The podcast is brilliant, insightful, and fun. I can’t wait to follow the show from episode to episode and relive all my favorite Sherlock moments.

Jeremy Brett was the man.

I think this is the best podcast ever devoted to Brett’s portrayal of the Great Detective. Also, the the only one. But still. Jeremy Brett will forever live in our hearts. And now, he will also live on in podcastland.
