Thought provoking podcast

I’ve been listening every week for about 2 years. It untangles difficult issues and gives me space to think critically about things that can often be overlooked or under reported. While I know “the women’s podcast” isn’t made for men in their 20s like me, it has played a big role in informing my opinions in many social issues over the last two years. The interviewers are diligent and thorough and the guest speakers are excellent. I recommend to anyone- you’ll find something you like!

My favourite part of the week!

Great content, telling the story of Ireland in 2018. It awakens my feminism and helps me questions my beliefs. Excellent.

Excellent podcast, powerful listening during ref campaign

An informative and educational platform during the referendum campaign which brought together powerful voices and gave them time to talk through complex issues in an edifying manner without the noise and so-called “balance” you find on radio. The discussion with Rhona Mahony, Fiona de Londras and Katha Pollitt was so powerful, I actually listened to it three times. These were the voices we needed out there - so clear in their thinking and projection of ideas, so educated in the law and culture - it was compelling listening. Excellently facilitated by the wonderful Kathy Sheridan. I am still laughing at how she described herself as “feeling a bit restless” after Noel Whelan’s litany of apologies the architects of the 8th need to make. Fantastic work. Keep it up.

The irony

Good content but Kathy Sheridan’s internalised misogyny makes me cringe every time. Stop interrupting and belittling the contributions of your female contributors when there’s a man in the room! It’s clear she’s less than well read on intersectional feminist politics.

Misandry and delusional

If you like listening to middle class, entitled feminist women who blame men for everything wrong in their lives then this is the pod cast for you.

The non hard cases

Thank you for this episode! As a non 'hard case' myself I loved the way Louise talked so reflectively about the experience. I myself have been canvassing and increasingly feeling I somehow have to edit my story. Or that compared to the pain other women have gone through my story is less important. I am also a psychotherapist and was ambivalent about canvassing in case I was seen by clients. I don't think that we are necessarily retraumatised by the posters so much as it brings us all back to a difficult often painful time in our lives. I love the series and really enjoy Your interviewing style Kathy.

Essential listening

Every episode is important listening, of great interest to those far beyond the borders of Ireland. The content is relevant wherever there are women. It's great to be able to hear the similarities and differences between feminism in Ireland and the U.S. Thank you for the work you are doing.
