Exciting and Important Journalism

What could be better than a podcast where talented readers recite a piece of important and in-depth journalism? Not much, not much at all. Give the Guardian Audio Long Reads a listen and you’ll hear why!

Excellent long form journalism

Educational thought provoking & balanced long formjournalism at its best. I absolutely love this podcast- except the gratingly annoying voices of the American read articles - I have to skip those. I love the breadth & scope of this podcast.

My favorite podcast...but

Please keep your wonderful British readers. As an American myself, I love to hear them and cringe at the American voices that come across as jarring and pretentious. Also, I agree with another reviewer who hates the loud ad in the middle.

Please change the readers

Painful to listen to the over-enunciating (North) American readers. It is uch a shame as the content of the podcast is relevant and engaging. I much prefer listening to British readers (I am Canadian.) Please consider this critical feedback before losing more listeners.

audiobook quality narration for interesting news and opinion pieces

a great idea for those who like to have something informative on in the background, the guardian long reads podcast combines audiobook-like narration and quality long form guardian articles into an interesting podcast curating a selection of stories that i don’t usually look to read. even if you aren’t always on the same political footing as many of the writers (with whom i sometimes disagree), it’s worth listening to other viewpoints to keep open minded in these insular and ignorant times

Usually very informative

Lately has become more frivolous. The British readers are sooo much better than the over-enunciating North Americans. I have to skip one of them unless the subject is particularly compelling. On balance, an excellent program and mercifully not cluttered with ads

Ruined with ads

A super loud and annoying ad plays in the middle of these. Not sure who the marketing genius was that decided loud and annoying would make money here but i hope they write an article about him/her. I won’t listen to it though.

Great Content, Grating Voice

Ugh made it 1/4 in and couldn’t take the voice (a/i?) anymore. It’s unnatural.

EXCELLENT INSIGHTFUL FEATURES

This is a really fabulous podcast, covering longer features from the Guardian newspaper (the type that, sadly for them, go beyond too many people's concentration threshold). With very few expections, I have found them really interesting.

Always thought provoking

Long form journalism, presented as a podcast, allowing time to expand on ideas and cover the more nuanced parts of a story.I might not always agree with the analysis, but it makes me think and reconsider my opinions.Well worth you time.

Far and away my favorite podcast

While listening to many longform audio texts, I usually get bored and distracted. The Guardian’s audio long reads are always engaging and thoughtful. I just listened to a fascinating analysis of the effect of privilege on social mobility. Last time, I listened to an analysis of the Silicon Valley “gold rush”. The variety and depth of articles is fantastic. I am so happy that this podcast exists.
