    Re: Sunday Reads

Can NY Times please for the love of god hire people who sound like normal people and not pompous pricks to read the articles and knock it off with the background music. Thanks.

Such a great educational news podcast

I absolutely love The Daily and have been listening since it first started years ago. I have learned so much and I am often surprised by what I find interesting even if the title/subject doesn’t sound like it’s up my alley. Mike and Sabrina are wonderful hosts (and human beings in general), and I’ve gotten to know and love the guest reporters and journalists that they often have on as well (have to name check Kevin Roose, Adam Liptak, Carl Zimmer and Michael Schmidt - and there are so many other awesome people that they have on). They are trusted voices in my mind. The storytelling is superb and the music is always amazing. By far one of my favorite podcasts and sources of news.

    Child work abuse

Very good - incredible that so many turn a blind eye. Politicians failing to address immigration once again, no grandstanding opportunity for the pollies!?

    Best podcast!

I enjoy both Michael and Sabrina! The naysayers should move on. I look forward to each episode. Informative and well executed. I wouldn't change a thing.

    Hmmm and hawww

Great show, but Michael, the incessant hmmmm’s, ahhhs, and mmmhmmms are a distracting nuisance and add nothing to the arc of your stories. We aren’t listening to hear that you find something interesting or surprising. We are listening because we are interested in the subject matter. Your job is to probe your interviewees to provide in-depth content that we listeners can deem interesting or not. You don’t need to editorialize with these constant guttural utterings. If you aren’t advancing the story consider holding your tongue.

    Why constantly grunt?

Interesting topics but the constant grunting from the host while guests are talking is extremely obnoxious and distracting.

Recently editing has made content unlistenable

Recently this and other NYTimes content has become unlistenable due to pops, repeats, edits that cut off speakers mid sentence or repeat previous content from the same episode. Did you guys just hire some new interns? 😬

Was enjoying this everyday, until your piece on Ron DeSantis which was based on opinion rather than facts. Unsubscribing.

Keep your opinion out of the news.

If it’s real news it shouldn’t be opinionated. Do better.

Sabrina supports kidnapping and can’t see that they have Stockholm syndrome

Sabrina disgraceful. You’re supporting kidnapping and not recognizing that these children have Stockholm syndrome. Emma thought back against you mildly. I give her much more credit than I give you!

Justifying kidnapping 16,000 Ukrainian children? Really?

In the March 3 episode they were talking about Russia kidnapping Ukrainian children and forcibly assimilating them into Russia…And after the journalist said that out of 16,000 children kidnapped, barely 300 have been returned…The host said (verbatim) “Stepping back here… these were children that for the most part, like Anya, were taken from group homes and orphanages, and placed in families in Russia. And yes they’re being fed this Russian propaganda about their own native born country and Russia, but it seems like—just to play devil’s advocate —they’re in potentially better and safer environments than they were before.”This is an absolutely vile take. NYTimes continues to suffer from “both sides-ism” but this is a new low, making excuses for Russia kidnapping children from their homes & playing right into the Russian propaganda narrative. Kidnappers & aggressors don’t need “devil’s advocates” and strategically targeting the most vulnerable children that have no advocates shouldn’t be praised or defended.

    Not only disappointed

I am very angry about the latest show with regard of the Ukrainian kids. How on earth would a media upholding the modern value of humanity would endorse evil imperial doing? Do the kids and the families even have a choice? Read some history, please!

This review is in reply the another reviewer who complained about their slow speak: you probably accidentally slowed down the speed. You can adjust the tempo in the lady lower corner. You’re welcome.

Use own voice- how to help in Ukraine?

I have been listening daily for about 2 years now, it took time to get used to Michael’s unique diction. Now that Sabrina is hosting I’m noticing she has the same diction and I wish she would speak like herself. Please! Regarding reporting on the Ukraine please stop reporting the war like it is a sporting event. I want to know what is happening, but I don’t want to be a voyerist of someone else’s terror. How can others constructively help instead just peering into their terror?
