The "Best" Buffalo Bills Podcast
The Buffalo Beat podcast is hosted by The Athletic Bills beat writers, Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn. What works is the chemistry between the hosts (and friends), who bring complimentary modes of analysis: where Joe emphasizes analytics (think: poor man's Bill Barnwell), Matt brings knowledge from his locker room reporting, taking a more conservative approach with his emphasis on coachspeak like "culture" and "responsibility" (think: poor man's Skip Bayless). What does not work are the attempts at humor and bits. There is "C'mon Darlene" (a gentrified version of ESPN's classic "C'mon Man" segment); there are also the weekly awards, which somehow manage to venerate Matt Barkley (yet there is somehow no Nathan Peterman award) while punching down meanly at targets like Dri Archer (who played 20 career games). What Joe and Matt lack on the production side of podcasting, they largely makeup for by bringing a great deal of knowledge about the Billls and passion for sports reporting. This is, in my opinion, the "best" Bills podcast - although as the choices are meager that does not mean as much as it might.
