Love it....however

I've been reading their blog for a long time. As a formulator, it helps to keep in touch with the trends. These guys give no nonsense reviews, advice and tips.Question: I would love a post on Vegan Beauty...is it worth it?what are your thoughts??? And what about vegan vs. cruelty vs. natural? There's a lot of confusion out there......😁

Addictive podcast!

It is beyond refreshing to hear the science instead of just marketing and fear mongering claims of “clean” beauty!

Very informative

Very informative podcast, you will learn a lot of valuable information, even if you’re like me and don’t wear a whole lot of makeup.

The Podcast I’ve Been Searching For

I can’t believe I just found this podcast. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m a physician who is embarrassingly obsessed with the YouTube beauty community but I am consistently frustrated by the pseudoscience perpetuated by those channels. I do not have the expertise in this area that Perry and Valerie have and they’ve answered so many of my beauty questions in the episodes I’ve listened to. Some of these beauty vloggers (ahem Tati) should really start listening before they make ridiculous claims about “natural” ingredients or “ingredients you can’t pronounce”. A+ show. BRB, binging all 180 episodes.

Science communicators extraordinaire

As someone fairly well versed in my own area of science, I still have gotten roped in by the “Clean beauty” fear mongering (which has been overturned by listening). It’s one thing to be knowledgeable in your own area but another to be able to communicate to a wide audience effectively. Love the nerd factor too. Hope you can do a collab with Alie Ward on Ologies sometime-that would be a dream come true!

Omg you’re back!!!

I could cry! I was just lamenting over how much I missed this podcast, so I wandered over to the website with the hope that maybe that was still active. It was! And it had new episodes of the podcast posted!! 🤯 I’m so happy! This is the best informative source for beauty product ingredients and their efficacy. I love you, and don’t leave me again!!

I am a fan!

I am so happy the Beauty Brains has resumed the show, and the addition of Valerie to Perry’s personality is perfect. I love that they are so grounded in the SCIENCE, instead of the marketing. They advocate for safe cosmetic products which is to all of our advantage. I look forward to every new episode, and console myself in between by listening to old ones. I hear something new every time. Thanks Perry and Valerie!

Relevant & Accessible Information in a Fun Format

I love both the hosts and the ways they contribute to this schow on the science of skincare and cosmetics. They actually look into scientific studies (!!!) and then present that info in a fun and conversational way. I really appreciate how they fight the fear mongering that skincare companies have been using in their marketing without scientific basis. The guy, Perry, has been fun and informative since the start! The old guy he cohosted with before could be a little dour and condescending, but Perry's very sweet and has a geeky sense of humor that's genuinely fun to listen to. The new person he hosts with, Valerie, is great! I really appreciate her annalytical perspective, and she talks about cosmetics not just as a formulator but as a user and that's totally changed up the game for this podcast. I've learned so much about sunscreen (which is a product that has so much misinformation floating around online) and how to apply it. I really appreciate the work that they put into this podcast, it's made me a better, less stressed out consumer.

Unbearable Host

The topic of this show is so interesting, but I can’t stand listening to most of the episodes because one of the male hosts is so insanely critical and negative. Almost every statement that comes out of his mouth is mean and judgmental. He has almost zero sense of humor. In the first minute or so of every single episode he chastises the other host (who is very lighthearted) when he talks about anything other than straight educational material. What’s the point of listening to two hosts talk on a podcast if they can’t have a fun or natural conversation? I believe the bad host’s name is Randy, and he’s not in the newest episodes, but I can’t listen to any of the ones he’s in. His attitude definitely ruined the show. To the other host who’s so nice and funny: I’m sorry!
