Wait! Is there no more?

A wonderful glimpse into their world. And I was sad when I got to the last podcast knowing there would be no more. Perfect production right down to the repetitions of ‘kiss, kiss, kiss...’ at the end of some of the letters.

The Animals Podcast

What a wonderful way to explore an amazing love story. The framing of the podcast is perfect for the reading of the letters between these two wonderful artists. Katherine Bucknell's additional information helps sets the stage and explores deeper meanings of the letters to provide a very welcome layer of insight. What a lost art of communications and what a world they both lived. After each episode I've searched the people who have been mentioned to get more information. I've recommended this podcast to everyone especially my artist friends.

Excellent

I listened to the whole thing in one week, mostly on the subway, in half-hour increments. And I was completely enthralled throughout. Simon Callow and Alan Cumming are both excellent, and I could only want more of them and more of the letters.Despite my wanting more, script writer Katherine Bucknell did an great job of selecting and editing the letters. Her narration gives just enough information to tie the pieces together and give a sense of the settings, the conflicts, and the events surrounding them. I'm happy to say that as an Isherwood scholar, I learned many new things. As for A Meeting by the River, that was truly inspired. The stage play adapted from Isherwood's novel works wonderfully as a spoken piece. I hope we can see it some day on stage. Penelope Wilton is one of my favorite actresses, and her voice is wonderful to listen to here.

Riveting. Unique.

Just finished episode 2 and I'm hooked. A great adventure with three interesting characters so far: Isherwood the writer; Don Bachardy the painter; and Katherine Bucknell, the writer invited into their secret world Smart and engaging. A roller coaster at times. Alan Cumming as Don and Simon Callow as Christopher are both terrific. The music punctuates the story perfectly. Recommend!
