Treat

I got onto this because there is a rare interview of Tom Waits. Heaps of other good stuff in there as well.

Puts a smile on your face every time.

Zan is such an amazing interviewer and has so much passion and energy and knowledge of music. She is able to get her guests to open up in ways that sometimes they didn’t even expect and every episode is such an amazing journey. The time and effort that the artists put into their stories show their respect for Zan and this show. It leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy with a big smile every time.

I feel like I’ve known Zan all my life

Zan is the penultimate journalist with a passion for music. Her interview style brings out the new in artists we thought we already knew.

Intro to new artists, re-kindle love for old ones

Always loved the take 5 on triple j, now loving I can get my fix whenever I feel like it from the podcasts.Zan’s skilled interview skills paired with fascinating artists is a brilliant combo.Love that I can discover new artists from your chats with the artist of the week as well as their song picks, as well as re-kindling my love for artists I have loved but had fallen off their radar. Case in point was Kimbra this week- I didn’t know she had a new album. Always a good listen on the way to it from work and always puts me in a good mood 😊 thanks Zan and the take 5 team

Passion at its finest..

In the same manner Bob Dylan was born to write music and Gabriela Quintero was born to play guitar, Zan Rowe was born to find incredibly interesting people, welcome them warmly into a space, make them feel comfortable and delicately and deftly draw interesting stories out of their song choices. It amazing how much you learn and how much you are affected by hearing the stories of people you’ve never heard of before as much as those stories of your idols.. This is the epitome of journalism for me and I have come to admire Zan as much as her one off presenters. She oozes coolness and her infectious interest has made me reconsider artists I previously had no time for.. I was shattered when she left JJJ but have absolutely found solace in this podcast and Bang On. I can’t find a list of super old archived ones but one that stick out that i remember being amazing fairly recently was the female comedian that played Lean On Me by Bill Withers and takes her audience on some sort of emotional rollercoaster. Unfortunately I can’t remember her name. Also Caribou, I feel like Zan was fan-girlling hard during the Caribou Take 5..You are amazing and if you read this and get even the slightest bit of joy from it, at least it hasn’t all been one sided. Thank you!

Satisfying like slow cooking...

No quick entertainment fix here. I enjoy this podcast so much, but I only just today went back and listened to Zan’s show with Paul McCartney during a drive - how fantastic! It nearly beat the one with Ice Cube. The guests always sound like they are enjoying it and the time and breadth of the discussion leaves you with something even if the artist is not a favourite of yours.

Five Stars for Take 5

Awesome guests and top notch music chat. It’s also very hard not to get caught up in Zan’s enthusiasm for all things music! Keep them coming!
