Tactical Talk sounds like nothing else. Who hasn’t wanted the chance to hang out with the real life warriors who can do Jason Bourne and James Bond type stuff? And here’s the thing…how would you ever find these guys to buy them a beer and hopefully hear a story or two? They excel at all things covert and the most talented operators tend to be incredibly humble, true to the code of “quiet professionals” – so it will definitely not be obvious that they are, who they are...folks in the business of protecting the United States and impossibly good at it. Well, now you know where to find them. Every week, you’ve got a seat at the table. From Special Operations ultimate tactical professionals through to 4-Star Generals and Admirals, host Allison Barrie will introduce you to a line up of fascinating warriors who you need to meet. So what do these guys talk about when they hang out together? Download to pull up a bar stool and find out.

Awful Interviewer

I just listened to the episode with Pat McNamara and it was painful. Pat is phenomenal and an opportunity was lost with this interview. Allison sounds like a babbling idiot. She constantly says, “are you serious?” like a 12 year old. Her questions were amateurish and disappointing. And, she constantly interrupts Pat during the interview. NOT RECOMMENDED

interruptions, ramblings yet has potential

I loved finding this podcast early on but after the first episode I could not believe how much the host asks a question- and continues to speak over the guest to validate and reaffirm why the question was asked rather than letting the guest speak! I’ve heard more questions asked- even asking for their own opinions of what to discuss without any opportunity to actually answer. The ramblings are only more and more pronounced and think it’s due to just lack of preparation and concern over dead air. Please don’t let that deter from the potential this podcast has- but the lack of interviewing skills and passive skills in petting the guest ego as well is just unbearable at times. Hope the host listens to the shows and accounts for how often she interrupts, cuts short, rambles instead of simply letting the guest speak...

Calm down

Calmness at the heart of movement is the secret of all power. Allison, please interrupt less, reduce the forced laughter, and please simply ask a question once and then be quiet and let your guest answer. Your guests are definitely pros and at the top of their fields, but you can hear their thoughts trying to be respectful of you as their host, but are waiting until you’re done interrupting so they can finish. You are definitely connected in the staff community, and have a lot of excellent guests. Please hear the other reviews that encourage you to chill.

Great guests, bad host.

If the host would not interject as much and let the guests talk it would be better. I get it, the host knows some people in the community. The host ends up sounding like a an over excited fan.

Could be so good, but the host....

She gets really great guests but just ruins it with her carrying on. Constantly talking over guests, laughing, trying to joke, and the over-enthusiastic hero-worship is too much.

Host is brutal

I listen to podcasts constantly and have never left a review. The host is atrocious. Holy cow i have no idea how she has the connections she has. The guest i listened to was amazing and fascinating and i could only get through about 20 minutes at a time. Not sure i can recommend listening to this at all

Please Don't be too hard on Alison...

Alison: This podcast is one-of-a-kind & I challenge your audience to find even one lady who could do what you do! I realize you probably enjoy your caffeine, but let the program find its natural rhythm. Robert Frost once said, "You have contentment when you are easy in your harness." Thank you & keep up the great work!

She talks twice as much as the guests

I’d like to hear from the guests and not just the host. Great guests though.

Hostess speaks over guests too much.

I love the guests and what they have to say, but I don’t like hearing how the hostess speaks over the guests. I understand that she is there to drive the narrative/conversation. I would like to hear more of what the guest has to say. Other than that, it’s a great listen.
