    Insipid, Underwhelming

The two hosts’ idea of being critical is formulaic to the point of being boring, embarrassing. I would usually begin an episode with eagerness and curiosity about the topics they’ve curated only to find myself frustrated at the disappointing and predictable turn the conversation unfailingly takes. They obviously love hearing themselves talk; you can hear it in the way they react to and drag out certain points like it’s the single greatest revelation to happen to them all year, or even the past decade. My problem with this is that this mode of delivery is used to mask the fact that they provide no original insight. (Or maybe they do, but to themselves only? Like their opinions are news to them but in reality something the world has already “processed,” likely ages ago?) It tries to be organically smart, thoughtful, and intellectual but in an too-conscious, overproduced way. The result is this cringe-fest of a podcast that I’ve finally decided to delete; I don’t need regular deliveries of flat and trite—but with a dash of self-importance—taking up storage space.

These two will call anything “a season”

If they’re going to keep phoning it in, why bother? Nine episodes and another hiatus? How do I get paid to do that???

    Consistently the best culture podcast

Every episode is an education, and Wesley's and Jenna's perspectives don't simply reinforce a current or common tribal belief. They dig and recontextualize without spreading the narrative too thin or falling back on hot takes. The media we consume says something about who we are AND informs who we become, and this podcast, its hosts, and its producers know that better than anyone.

More 🔥🔥🔥Still processing soothes my soul & tickles my brain. ❤️💯Update update: They keep killing it, every time. Some of the smartest, most thoughtful pop culture examinations happening in the world of radio & podcasting. You may be expected to be moved to tears with insightful, impassioned and personal remembrances of a national treasure like Aretha Franklin, but the’ll also take you there talking about BBQ or Black Panther or ... Been listening since day one and every episode is great. —————UPDATE: That season 1 break was difficult to endure. So glad they are back! 2018 🔥🔥—————-A blazing hot blast of wit, humor, insight, and truth. My favorite podcast right now. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯

Thoughtful but wish it was less produced

I’ve always enjoyed this podcast, but at times I feel like you can hear the script. I wish it was less produced and more conversational. Perhaps it’s a product of being a NYT podcast?

    Catwoman viewing w/Still Processing

It’s 4/21/21. I just watched & listened to the Catwoman experience (4/23/20). Yes, I’ve saved the podcast for almost a year. It was so fun to watch a movie I never would’ve watched had I not had Jenna & Wesley! Super fun & as always, thought provoking!

    Incisive, warm, and comforting

I have loved listening to Jenna and Wesley for the past 3 years and keep coming back for their clear-eyed analysis of pop culture, art, and identity as a bipoc person in America. I feel like their voices are old friends I turn to when I want to laugh and feel comforted. The chemistry between these two sparks truly compelling introspection and conversations I’ve continued with family and friends. I hope that they will continue the show on a more regular basis!

Entertaining but they live in a bubble

I like listening to these two hosts, but there is so much irony when they call out people for being closed-minded and unsympathetic when they themselves fail to recognize their own privileges as urban white collar elites who literally work for the New York Times.
