    “Eff him with a chainsaw!”

Amber and Natalie have done such an amazing job on this podcast. Between the research, the commentary on such dark topics, and the brevity they sprinkle in, I was hooked from the first episode. I’ve been listening to shows from LPN for years now and was so excited to have a women-lead true crime show to listen to and never fail to suggest it to anyone I know who likes podcasts. Amber and Natalie are both shining lights in a sometimes depressing world and I couldn’t be more happy to have a weekly episode from them to make me rage and laugh despite myself. Love you ladies!

    Ok but needs work

Shows premise is solid and Natalie does pretty good research. Amber doesn’t though. It would work a lot better following the lpotl method. 2 solid to medium researchers and the response person, the Ben Kissel. Amber would be the perfect reaction host, to two others delivering facts. That way we could appreciate Amber’s comedic input, without her informative input. She just doesn’t have resources to back up what she says, and sometimes clearly needs to do more research. 2 host TC pods are hard, imo. There’s just too much overreacting to information both hosts already know. That’s what makes lpotl interesting, and I think would improve this one. I say this all as a true lover of the Brighter Side, and longtime roundtable fan.

    Incoherent

With the topics covered, this podcast has potential. But, ultimately the deep dives are incoherent with a lot of interruptive banter that doesn’t add value.

    Poor quality control

I don’t understand how they can consistently put up episodes that don’t have an outro or have such weak clip quality. Does someone listen to these before they get pushed out to the feed?

    I’m at the cross roads….

I’m a 50 yr old man that listens to the show. The content is very good and most of the time I’m ok with the misandry that mostly comes from Amber. But, listening to the most recent episode about parents exploiting their children on Tik Tok I see no way that the hosts can continue to use this platform, it’s hypocritical. If the hosts continue to use Tik Tok I will have stop listening to this podcast. Natalie made a comment that a mom posting videos of her young daughter on Tik Tok may not be intentionally providing content for pedos but I wonder how they would feel if it was the dad posting the videos.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite podcasts

I love true crime and I’m a big fan of the LPOTL and the whole collection from the LPOTL team. Under Neith is quickly becoming one of my favorite Podcasts. Interesting stories from a the perspective of knowledgeable hosts but they somehow keep it both light and interesting while not undermining the weight of the human tragedies that are at the heart of a lot of these episodes.

    Meh

I struggled to feel engaged. I wanted to hear the topics and stories but there was so little content and so much banter that does not add anything of substance. Even though I agree with the host politically, I would still be annoyed when they would go on a random political rant that did not move the sorry telling along. I felt like there were episodes 00:50 long and only 00:15 was content, the rest was flat jokes, mind numbing banter, and opinionated rants with no substance or backing. The 5 part episode for hurricane Katrina could have been done in 1:30 if they would have stayed focus. This is not my cup of tea.

    Parasocial Exploitation Part 3

Natalie… I really respect you, but if you announce a trigger warning for violence against children, etc… you really need to include a warning for violence against animals. As a victim of childhood abuse and sexual assault I’ve found more comfort and support with animals than human beings have ever offered me. And Amber really comes off as extremely callous when she laughs as you describe a dog being put down for likes. Iunderstand that was not her intention, butcombined it seems that you both are missing a huge component of many survivors’ stories by not giving these animals the grace they deserve.

I wanted to disagree with the other reviews

I wanted to like this show, but I really have to admit that the other reviews are right- amber is really difficult to listen to. She frankly seems pretty unhinged, and not in a funny or relatable way. It’s a shame because I really like Natalie and her research, but amber’s entire demeanor makes me really uncomfortable

    Just okay

I like the content and the hosts are very likable, however there are CONSTANT interruptions about how white people suck, capitalism sucks, everything mainstream sucks. Add that to the frequent reminders that they don't condone the horrible acts in the stories, it really takes away from the story. If they could just focus on the stories and not irrelevant or (repeated) tangents, I would love it. We know how they feel, we know their opinions, please focus on the stories. If they really want to tell these women's stories, then tell their stories. Not your stories.

    Love it

I just started this podcast but I love it already! The banter is priceless and hilarious! It’s also very respectful I think, and you can tell the hosts are passionate about bringing awareness to these cases. I’m really enjoying listening while I work! (Ps-I have pretty serious ADD and the fact that I got sucked in and listen to the whole episode from start to the actual end is a big deal for me!). Thanks for the wonderful podcast!

    Good work, keep evolving

I love how the stories being told are so so important but I agree with others that Amber’s sense of humor and personal stories are less than desirable. Hopefully the growing pains go away but I continue to try with these ladies. Also, while I’m sure they are meant to be funny, the episode names and descriptions are staring to get REAL wild. I listen to lots of podcasts and when I am scanning through my list trying to find something while working, I can’t take ten minutes to decipher what I’m sure are inside jokes made while recording the episode. If I could know who and what the story is about before playing, I would listen more often.

    I listen, but it’s trying

I listen to this every week because they are covering some topics that are important and people/stories I’m not aware of. Also, I wanted to support a woman-led show on LPN. Natalie has great research, for the most part, and I think Amber means well, but actually hurts the show. I hate to say it because I think her heart is in the right place, but she just doesn’t sound intelligent when speaking on these topics. I don’t think she’s a dumb person at all, but the tone is just off from Natalie’s storytelling. I feel like if they could decide on a tone of the show and both stay consistent with that, it would be more enjoyable. Amber makes a lot about herself and does repeat stories over and over. It gets old and doesn’t add much. Natalie’s voice is fine, but she always sounds unsure of herself and I think she’s the one making this show. I always want her to sound more confident. Waiting for this to get better. I keep listening because I think there is potential here.

    Great concept and execution

I’ve been bingeing this podcast and absolutely love the concept and hosts. Most stories are absolutely infuriating but need to be told! I appreciate these women for telling the tales with compassion and leaving out the gruesome details. My only gripe would be that Amber needs to stop telling the story about working with addicts and them stealing from the cash register. If I took a shot every time she said that story I would have alcohol poisoning. Keep up the great work ladies! <3

I love this show and it’s focus. Natalie Jean and Amber are lovely hosts and do so much research. Their level of dedication to the truth is so appreciated. I have been binge listening to them the last 2 weeks.
