Two comedy and theatre nerds watch SMASH and become bros. It's one of those shows. Each week, our hosts Jimmy Blackmon (Smash viewing veteran) and Marty Scanlon (Smash viewing virgin) are joined by guest luminaries from the world of Broadway, TV, and comedy to celebrate (and at times, just comprehend) NBC’s short-lived musical drama SMASH, episode-by-episode in all its beautiful, arresting, endlessly frustrating, and inspiring glory. All episodes of SMASH can be streamed for free on NBC's website. Watch along with us to follow along! Lastly, this podcast has no official affiliation with the NBC series SMASH, and is all intended in good fun. We know how much hard work people put into any TV series (or any Broadway musical), so know that for as much as we rib it and poke holes in it, we both agree the world is a much better place thanks to SMASH's existence.

A great Smash streaming companion

I’m watching for the first time like Matt and it’s been great to watch an ep on nbc.com and then come back and listen to their take on it. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I disagree but it’s always a fun and interesting discussion. Where’s season 2 guys?

Change your name

Every time we try to search for podcast episodes where people talk about the Super Smash Bros video game, this unrelated podcast about broadway or something takes over all the search results. Very annoying. Change your name or go away

A very fun and funny Brian d’Darcy James fancast

Since I started listening to this podcast two days ago I have watched a particular YouTube clip of Brian d’Arcy James singing “The Proposal” about 20 times and I have no regrets.Along with some very well-deserved BDJ love, this show delivers insightful commentary, hilarious line readings, and maybe, just a little bit of closure to those of us who still quietly hoped that NBC might one day #BringBackSmash.

kyle bishop deserved better

“SMASH is over!” “glee was simply better.” “why do you care about something that happened 6 years ago?” these are the lies SMASH fans have to hear continually. however, this podcast gives me hope that maybe the trend of being mildly over-obsessed with jeremy jordan with a five o’clock shadow and katherine mcphee’s terrible character yet beautiful voice will soon be seen as completely normal again. five stars, just to keep SMASH alive. to keep debra messing in all of our hearts and minds. to remember christian borle the way he was meant to be remembered. with hair.
