    Willing to listen to commercials

To lock down whole episodes (seemingly indefinitely) behind a subscription is incredibly annoying. I’m willing to listen to commercials. I’m willing to wait a week for content to be available to all listeners. I am not willing to pay a subscription. Decent storytelling. Annoying business model.

“Ad Free” listening does not exist!

First, you don’t get to listen to an entire season of anything without paying for the podcast. Which is an outrageous $10 a month. That might unlock the episodes, but you’re definitely going to still have to suffer through the constant ads!!! They don’t go away!!! So you’re better off not bothering with Slow Burn at all. Unless you want half the story with annoying ads, or pay for the entire story with ads. Unbelievable.

Do not start a season unless willing to pay for Slate+

I downloaded season 5 a couple months ago and finally listened to it today. About halfway through episode 6 they start talking about how the last 2 episodes are only available with a subscription to Slate+. Which I totally get that the show is supported through paid subscriptions but don’t drop the bomb on me that I have to pay for the conclusion of the season when I’m already over the halfway mark.

    Bait and switch - disgraceful!

The content for this podcast is great! I love the in depth reporting and the thoughtful analysis. However, if I had known at episode one of each season that in order to hear the end of the story I would have to pay, I would not have started listening and I sure wouldn’t have subscribed. Other podcasts are doing this work for free. They might have ads, but they are not withholding information. If you want to charge for bonus content, great! If you want to get people hooked and then charge them to hear the end of the story, disgraceful! Thank you for 3/4 of the story.

    I’m not subscribing to Slate+

Great show, but it’s stupid to have the last two episodes of each season only available to Slate+ members. It’s a cheap way to get people to sign up, and I for one am not doing it.

Don’t start listening unless you are willing to pay $$

Nothing like starting to get into a podcast series and then hitting a paywall (unannounced) to listen to the last two episodes. Was texting all my friends to listen, now texting them to avoid. Put the whole thing behind a paywall or make it all available.

IT. IS. NOT. YOUR. BODY. IT ISN’T YOUR CHOICE. Women should have the right to remove a growing cell from their body. And they don’t always WANT to get pregnant! In fact, most of the (young) women wanting abortions have been RAPED!!! Now THAT’S disgusting.

    What a happy narrator!!!!

I’ve been looking forward to listening to his podcast. I always love the work that Slow Burn does and this is such an important story. But MY GOD who is this narrator??!?!?!?! She sounds chirpy and happy and downright giddy. The script is incredibly poorly written and then delivered by someone who sounds more like they are selling raffle tickets at a circus than telling such an important story. This season of Slow Burn has had so many accolades. Not deserved in the slightest. Slow Burn, get your storytelling together - you’ve done such a disservice to this one.

    Not a fan

This is definitely NOT the podcast of the year. Just more leftist spraining their wrists by patting themselves on the back.

    Disgusting

I’m so disgusted listening to this podcast. Women voicing their SELFISH opinions about why abortion laws are the way they are. Women who get multiple abortions talking about why it’s ok to kill a baby. I can’t even listen to a full episode without becoming angry. There are many other options to prevent pregnancy. I think any women who chooses multiple abortions as their option should be castrated

You are right about the tragic part. But adoption is incredibly hard to arrange and that’s a lot for a ten year old to manage. And you’re right about the irresponsible sexual relation part too. But a woman should still at least have the option to have an abortion. 🤰🏽(Also I never said it was a ball of meat, and I do care about the fetus but the female has been through worse.)
