The Most Entertaining/Educational Pod in the STR Space

My wife and I have been consuming as many pods about Airbnb and short-term rentals as possible over the past few months while preparing to launch our own Airbnb unit(s). Of all the pods in this space (5 or 6 come to mind), Shampoo and Booze is definitely the most entertaining, and it’s arguably also the most educational. Their format is topical, rather than interview-based, which makes for tightly packed episodes where Ry and Ashley can dive into the meat of the episode without the awkward intros in most interviews. We’ve found their episodes about systems (cleaning, bedding, organization, coffee/tea) to be so helpful in deciding on how to establish our own systems. If you’re a host or want to be one, this is a podcast you need to be listening to.

AirBnB Info in a Fun Format

Ryanne and her sister are really fun and informative. They have great energy and positive outlook. AirBnB is a topic that needs some informative podcasts. I like the subjects they discuss and the easy to listen to style of the show. Every week I learn something new. I can’t wait to see their AirBnB makeover.

Please get to the point and stick to the topic

You both see like great people but you rarely stick to the point. Random stories about your own properties while interrupting one another makes it super hard to follow and listen to. For example, episode #38 was suppose to be about learning how to be good abnb hosts by being good abnb guests. I assumed it would be filled with stories of your actual experience staying in abnb’s as guests. Nope. The episode was full of random ramblings about your own abnb and about your own preferences. Interesting.

I’m so glad you’re back!!!

This podcast was a lifesaver when we first started our short term rental a year ago, and I kept thinking “I wonder how Ryanne and Jay’s rentals are going. I wish they were still doing the podcast!” And now you’re back!! I love the new format and, as always, your advice is invaluable and spot on! Thanks for all you do!

Love it!

Love all of the podcasts put out by this couple. While I don't have a place to rent out for an Airbnb, I am a user of the service, and it's interesting to listen to the trials and tribulations of the other side. Jay and Ryanne have a fun back and forth banter that is fun to listen to. Love to hear episodes where they talk about the places they've stayed and hope to one day visit their place in the Shenandoah Valley.

If your friends don't AirBnb...

Are you the only person in your circle who hosts on AirBnb? Nobody to talk to about your quirky job as a host? This podcast fills the void! They have hosts on as guests and the vent and ponder the same things you are experiencing. They have a phone number they solicit feedback on and incorporate your content into their shows. This couple host offsite for "entire home", they do everything top notch. If you prefer quality over quantity, this is your discussion. They are currently renovating the 2nd home they purchased exclusively for short term rental (AirBnb & other listing sites). It's nice to have someone to listen too, when you are the lone host.

Pretty good content, not very polished

There are some good nuggets of info and ideas, but the amount of interrupting and "yeah, yeah, yes, right"s makes it hard to listen sometimes. A little more practice and production attention might help the smoothness and listenability.
