Starts out great. Then becomes a black culture show.

Title says it all. I wanted to like the show, but episode 11-17 has black power undertones that is super annoying and hammered into the episodes. Deleted and unsubscribed and took the time to write this review to let you know how I felt. Bye bye.

Way ahead of it's time

I listened to Mogul then the Nod, then I discovered start up and now Sampler. Brittany Luse is a treasure and Sampler was ahead of it's time. As a young women of color this show felt like the podcast version of what is missing from late night television. It's smart and insightful. Often as someone who blows through seasons of podcast in a week it feel like Brittany and her team have picked the absolute best of each podcast. Usually when I start listening to a podcast I start from the beginning but after Sampler I listen differently to podcasts I may have never listened to.This podcast is pure Joy and I'm sad its now just a plug for gimlets other shows. At least I still get a Brittany fix with another all star pod cast the NOD

Lame attempt at "diversity"

They wanted to hire a black host and then they needed a show for her to do. This was the best they could find? I guess maybe if you want to hear about podcasts in the realm of black culture. Not interesting to me. Too narrow and niche-y.

Love

I'm sad this show isn't active anymore. I listen to this show whenever I run out of podcasts and it's very accurate on suggestions!

Show notes don't link to mentioned podcasts

Why don't the show notes link to all the shows that are mentioned?

One of the Best Gimlet Hosts

Brittany does an excellent job of bringing people into her interviews that display the great variety of podcasts that are out there. Not only have I benefited from her suggestions but I have also remembered many of her conversations months after hearing them. I have to say it's also great to hear a female journalist unapologetically display her point of view. Gimlet did well in hiring her and her podcast is very worthwhile.

Love the host, not all of the content

Brittany Luse is great! She is fun and interesting to listen to, and so relateable. However, the episodes were hit-or-miss. It was just too inconsistent - I never knew what the show was going to be about.I'm excited to see Brittany's next project with Gimlet!
