Bill C-69 has been described as the pipeline-killing legislation. It is currently being debated in the Canadian Senate before the Environment and Energy Committee. Senators had agreed to a cross-Canada tour in order to allow Canadians to raise any issues they may have with C-69. Now Senator Yuen Pao Woo (leader of the Independent Senators Group (Liberals) is trying to change the itinerary so the tour only includes one Eastern Canada stop and wants Winnipeg written out of the itinerary as well.
Conservative Senator David Tkachuk is insisting on a true Eastern/Western Canada tour. Why shouldn't Canadians from all regions have the opportunity to speak to this significantly impactful legislation?
