Practical advice

I have found his episodes to be a great education. I am five years away from retirement and he has talked about many subjects that I hadn’t even thought of. He’s a little goofy, but it’s worth his sense of humor to get to the meat of his message.

Upbeat and lively

You won’t get bored listening to Roger! His energy is contagious and content is crucial. I have much to learn about retirement planning. And Roger gives us the answers. He makes complex choices easier to understand. As a relationship therapist who helps leaders in their second half of life, I highly recommend this podcast. Financial decisions reveal core issues in couples. As the author of “Beyond Messy Relationships” I appreciate the wisdom (and energy) Roger shares with us.

Retirement Philosophy Done Well

About about 10 years out from retirement, I've started to think about and research the longer-term planning and to put together some guesstimates on how it will look on paper.I discovered Roger Whitney's Retirement Answer Man podcast and really like it - he does a terrific job of talking about the many topics involved, all with the slant of creating a vision of what your retirement looks like and devising a financial plan that is focused on making that vision a success. (As opposed to shooting for a "you need X dollars - now start saving!")He's also got a nice manner of speaking, which makes it an enjoyable listen, and structures each episode nicely - He summarizes a topic, discusses how it might fit into the philosophy of your retirement vision, then moves on to a "get happy" segment and offers a quick to-do for the week.I've been working my way back through his whole catalog on my daily commutes and I keep coming back for more.

Food for Thought

I truly enjoy my weekly listening of Roger's diverse take on retirement planning. He hits on essential planning advice that others cover, but he also presents a more holistic approach to planning and living a full life in retirement, not just stopping work and "sitting on the park bench of life." Through this podcast, I realize I have more to plan for than the money side of things.

One of the Best!

I am podcast Junkie and listen to several investing, financial / retirement planning podcasts. When I found the Retirement Answer Man podcast I went back and listened to all of the shows. Have to say it is one of the best. Roger is very wholelistic in terms of what he talks about. For those thinking about retirment, approaching retirement or already in your encore life this podcast will help you think about many things that you need to consider well beyond basic financial planning. Even if your not thinking about retirement and earlier in your career you would still benefit from listening.

Essential Podcast

If you’re close to pretirement or straight up retirement, then this is the place for you! This is the biggest step we’ll really ever take, so thanks to Roger and Nicole, bc they are willing to broach all details and considerations from finance/healthcare to how and where we’ll spend our time! I’m heading back to the archives now and am enjoying those as much as the most recents ones.

Great retirement focused podcast

I have listened through series to date and have enjoyed content and style. Roger has matured his podcast style and format (might be help of his sidekick?) which is easy to listen to yet in-depth. I like that he covers more than financial challenges of retirement. My own upcoming retirement will “rock” a little better as a result.
