Best podcast for people who want to learn

This podcast is so important in a genre with a tendency to exploit criminals & victims as “entertainment”. This is my go-to podcast for better understanding the criminal justice system; victimology; the psychology behind criminal behaviors; & getting accurate facts about cases other podcasts cover for the sake of comedy & “entertainment”. The hosts are knowledgeable & incredibly compassionate people. Their work has profoundly helped me to process my experiences of childhood sexual abuse while reminding me that it’s NEVER the victim’s fault for being victimized. They give me the strength to keep working with my therapist & moving forward with my life as a person who was victimized, NOT as a person who was devastated by what was done to me. Jim Clemente’s passion for educating others while holding criminals & the criminal justice system accountable is reassuring & gratifying. Laura Richards’ incredible insights & ability to explain complex issues is just amazing. And Lisa Z. asks the questions most of us are dying to ask Jim & Laura! There’s genuine connection among the hosts, & I can’t thank them enough for sharing their time with us & for their advocacy.

    LOVE THIS PODCAST

I an so tired of reading complaints about Jim! Why do you think he is so passionate… he’s a victim himself and has a lot of experience. Don’t judge a person unless you’ve walked in their shoes! I look forward to listening to Laura, Lisa and Jim! Great job…

    Excellent, victim focused, factual podcast

This is my favorite podcast for factual information and thoughtful, professional analysis of behaviors surrounding any crime they cover. The hosts really offset one another well, and I’m looking forward to being a listener for a long time.

    The perfect crime…podcast!

When you’ve read every true crime book, watched every true crime show, and listened to every true crime podcast, you start to feel like you’ve heard it all before. That was me - until I stumbled upon the Real Crime Profile podcast. I unfollowed every other podcast - from the shrill to the run-of-the-mill - because this one is all I need. (Well, I also love Crime Analyst). Each host brings something different to the table. It’s a riveting, suspenseful and satisfying listen that leaves me looking forward to the next episode. They have reignited my passion in the True Crime genre. Two suggestions: I would love to get their take on why so many men who have just murdered their wife (or parents…) raise their voice almost to a falsetto level during their 911 call (Menendez and Murdaugh both did it, and why the guilty also can’t seem to produce actual tears when fake crying. Do they even try? Maybe they can bring in an expert in this area. Anyway, your podcast is a gift to us True Crime fans. Thank you very much!

Agree with all the reviews about Jim

Long time listener here and it’s becoming increasingly unbearable to listen. The way Jim talks to his cohosts (especially Lisa), as well as some guests (men and women), is so disrespectful. Any time they disagree with him, Jim talks to them like they’re the dumbest person he’s ever met. And he always talks over them, interrupts them, and doesn’t let them finish they own thoughts. I get that he’s probably coming from a good place (being rightfully worked up about horrific crimes and predators), but it’s getting out of control. I’m going to try to keep listening, but I unfortunately feel like I’m not going to be able to much longer with Jim’s behavior.

This could be a great podcast.

I love the expertise all of the hosts have to offer, but Jim and his rants are unbearable. Nothing that anyone else says seems to be as important as what Jim is about to yell about. He constantly dismisses the opinions and general statements of others. I listen to another podcast of his and he acts the same way. Sometimes I fast forward through whole sections of the podcasts just to get through Jim’s rants.

    Great insight despite loud man

I've reviewed these guys before, I've been a listener for a few years now. While all 3 hosts have wonderful insight, experience, and feedback they bring to the table, Jim gets very heated and often ends up yelling. I know he's angry about the topic, and rightfully so, but he ends up yelling at his 2 co-hosts who are women. He also talks over and interrupts them. I'm listening to an episode from this month, May 2023, and he just interrupted Lisa and didn't let her get her opinion out. Sigh. IMO Lisa and Laura are more forgiving about it than they should be. It's the only reason I rate this as 4 stars instead of 5.

    Just gets better and better

I have learned so much from these three. They are so passionate about what they do and want to educate people more than anything. Lately, they have been releasing more episodes. I can’t get enough so I hope they continue that trend!

    Stop Yelling and Interrupting

Some episodes are better than others. Topics keep me pulled in as they are truly interesting. But Jim goes on tangential rants WAY too often, yells about whatever, and constantly interrupts his female co-hosts. His heart may be in the right place, but he comes off like your righteous, mildly verbally abusive, angry uncle. I have literally stopped in the middle of multiple episodes because I can’t bear to hear more of his yelling. Take it down a notch, bub.

    Top notch true crime

Kind, intelligent, focused, victim-centric - I’m a long time listener and I’m struck by their careful dissection of cases. It feels like they give regular people like me a voice.

    Jim, retire

Jim was so incredibly rude to the juror from the Menendez trial. She was so insightful but Jim disrupts the entire show with his yelling and talking over everyone. I’m so glad Laura has her own podcast because this one has become unlistenable.

    I’m disappointed

Thank goodness Francey Hakes filled in for Laura when they reported on Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp. James admitted he really didn’t know much about the trial. As usual Lisa was clueless. But they were more or less for Amber. I had mad respect for them before that episode. No more. Sorry. No longer a fan. Now I wonder what else they talk about that they don’t know really anything about.

    Great, except…

Any time either if the other hosts, or a guest, has a different opinion of something or is even mildly off in a fact that they present, Jim immediately starts YELLING. This is meant to be a discussion podcast and it’s very informative and I love the information that I get from it, but as someone who grew up under the very loud control of an abusive father, to hear a man start quite literally shouting over a woman every time they have a difference of opinion is triggering, to say the least. I usually end up pressing skip until his tirade ends and probably miss some information.

Great great except for Lisa Z

It’s a great show except for those episodes when Lisa Z argues with the other co-hosts and dominates the conversation with her in-expertise.
