We’re Greg Wyshynski of ESPN, Sean "Down Goes Brown" McIndoe of The Athletic and Ryan Lambert of Yahoo Sports and this is a hockey podcast, in the sense that we talk about hockey, both on the ice and about fan culture. That’s the “puck.” This is also a podcast about movies, TV, fast food, life lessons and general idiocy. That’s the “soup.” Unless you ordered the minestrone.

My fave

Funny smart clever and like reasonably woke for a bunch of white dudes (love you comrade Ryan!). Hockey is an absurd thing to give energy and emotion to, and these dudes get the right perspective. And they know a lot! And it’s very funny!

Racists comments in the cast. Used to be hood stuff. Not anymore.

There have been a lot of changes lately that have shown in little ways. There is an angry edge to it that has gotten sharper and sharper until the out right racist remarks made in the December 19, 2019 episode. I would expect that kind of disgusting behavior from Don Cherry. I am unsubscribing and returning his book for a refund. Racists don't need my support.

Disappointed

First, I want to say I still do appreciate the podcast greatly! It's been a staple of my listening schedule and I'm still excited every week. That said, it really has not been the same show since Lozo left. Sean and Ryan are wonderful additions, but this has become a hockey podcast with a a 10 minute popculture capper at the end. I really miss the way Greg and Lozo would interweave their movie or food takes with the hockey conversation. I miss the random tangents. But there are plenty of hockey podcasts out there where I can get what is being offered on this iteration of Puck Soup when that simply wasn't the case before.

Best Hockey Podcast

This is by far the best hockey podcast being made these days. It has a fantastic mix of personalities and is just fun. I look forward to it each and every week and it is the only thing I support on Patreon. Give it a chance and you won't be sad, especially with NHL season approaching!

Best Pop Culture Podcast around. Their sports takes are good too.

This podcast started with 100 hockey men. Then they realized how awful that would be and got these three hosts. It's a mash of pop culture, music, Sean not watching movies, the proper amount of communism, and surprisingly good comic book recommendations. Hockey is in there too. It's clear that these three genuinely like each other - but aren't afraid to mix it up with each other. They all bring different things to the podcast - but all bring the appropriate love and skepticism of Hockey. The Patreon over delivers with an excellent weekly newsletter and the bonus podcasts sometimes surpass the regular show. But when it comes down to it, these are three good people. So many sports podcasts are bad people being over the top - this is three good people being goofy. The way podcasts were intended.

Fun hockey podcast, unless you hate fun things

Part of my weekly podcast consumption (also subscribe on Patreon for bonus episodes). Greg, Ryan, and Sean provide a blunt look at the happenings in hockey. They also dissect random bits of pop culture, which no one can predict where Sean’s knowledge exists or not to comical effect. Recommend them to anyone looking for a more broad, blunt, and light hearted look at hockey and the NHL.

2/3 are good

Wysh (slightly biased devils fan...BOOO!) is usually pretty good but sometimes thinks he’s being a lot funnier than he is and it gets old fast but 9x out of 10 he’s really good. Sean is fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable about the game and his dry sense of humor compliments Wysh’s personality. Ryan.....well he’s just there because I think they needed a 3rd guy. He’s brutal to listen to and completely unoriginal and I’m not sure he knows what he’s talking about. Doesn’t do his research on his articles or the topics they talk about and it shows. This podcast would be fantastic if they’d only get rid of Lambert.
