HBO's Westworld is full of vagaries and questions. Out West is a podcast from The Outline that tries to guess at what the answers are. Each week, we find one fan with a solid theory, and we kick the tires to see how that theory holds up.
Came for GoT, didn’t even finish the episode. I tried a westworld episode just to be fair and it kind of confirmed my opinion. Josh needs to step back. He talks over the other hosts to say stupid things, can’t pronounce any names correctly, and doesn’t even remember the storyline. He contributes nothing to this conversation. Really, how can you host a nerdcast and not know who Boromir is?
I was excited to see the podcast was going to take on Game of Thrones. Was quickly disappointed when I saw it was the same amount of effort that went into the season 2 Westworld podcasts. It’s hard to get interested listening to theories when half the hosts don’t seem to remember character names or important plot lines. Some preparation work would be all that is needed so the the entire podcast isn’t taken up with explaining things the other hosts forgot. It comes across messy and unprofessional.
The first season’s episodes were very interesting with engaged hosts although Josh was a little too aggressive in interactions with his co-hosts. The second season of Out West has completely lost any interest in putting out quality theories and ideas. The two new hosts are totally unengaged with Westworld and seem like they only show up for the paycheck. Due to their constant complaining and their lack of interest I quit listening towards the end of the season. If Out West manages another season hopefully the producers hire people who actually watch and enjoy the show.
Why would a group of people who seemingly have zero experience with reviewing TV content review a show they have no interest in and that requires deeper understanding. There is no structure here and the hosts seem to have resentment toward each other- so for that, it’s at least entertaining. The female host(I dont know her name) seems to have a lot of hate toward her boss Josh. Anyway, this is disappointing and they should just review a show they like and is more on their level like Riverdale. How did they even get listeners?
I am not sure why these people are making a podcast about a show they hate and "taking 6 pages of notes" on it, then having no idea what actually happened. The podcasters constantly talk over each other, sigh when the other person talks and generally don't listen to each others "theories". I mean yeah the one guy is off his rocker but hey if you are going to have him on the show at least listen to his BS? They ramble on about their own "theories" which make no sense and is not based on things that are presented in the show. The only sane voice seems to be a lady on a staticky telephone who speaks 1 minute out of 60. Props to you, lady.
Season 1 was great, but this season just feels pointless to listen to. The hosts don’t like the show and sometimes don’t even watch it. They get basic facts about what happened in the episodes wrong and flat out say they don’t want to be watching it or doing the podcast. Why am I listening to this? It’s not that I can’t handle someone criticizing something I like, I enjoy picking the show apart and discussing legitimate critique, but this just feels disorganized and whiny. There are so many other great Westworld podcasts, don’t waste your time!
Season One of this podcast was entertaining, but this season is dreadful. The hosts *don’t like Westworld* and sometimes don’t even watch the show. Why they still make this podcast is a mystery. The hosts talk over each other constantly and won’t let one another finish their sentences. Except for Paris, she seems cool. If you don’t like Westworld, or like hate-watching it, then this podcast is for you.
The production value is still great but the podcast hosts in season 2 are so disappointing. Why are you making this podcast if you don’t even like the show? Josh is the only one who seems to like the show.this is so bad compared to the first season.
The hosts seem to have nothing but contempt for Westworld, each other, and the listeners’ time. I feel bad for the production/editing team who are still doing quality work, but this is not a fun or informative podcast anymore.
