Each week, hosts Joe Santagato and Greg Dybec have an anonymous phone call with a stranger they found on the Internet. You never know what topics will be discussed and what stories will be shared.

Well Rounded Show.

I love all of the Santagato Studios podcasts but OPL is my favorite. I love the diversity and range the show has. You go from escorts and sex addicts to 9/11 firefighters and Survivors of mass shootings. Worth the listen.

First responders

I’ll give your FR all the credit and thanks for coming down from Westchester county and helping/assisting in the search and recovery mission after the unprovoked attacks on 9-11-2001. The show usually has some very entertaining guests. Unfortunately, I think this episode was a bit of a letdown. I personally think that the show could have easily got a member of the FDNY, NYPD or the Port Authority PD. People that were there before, during and after the towers fell, the pentagon was hit and the plane crash in Pennsylvania. Ohhh, btw acts of xenophobia were rare after the events and were done by very uneducated individuals. It was not as common as you were told and I saw the opposite.

Can not stop listening

I love listening to how other people live and this show gives me my fix. The hosts are incredibly non-judgmental, even when they talk to people whose lifestyles they clearly don’t agree with. I also enjoy listening to their final thoughts, and they are pretty funny. Highly recommend.

Changed my life

Joe has been an influencer in my life for years since his basement improv videos to, other people’s lives and the basement yard. I love to be able to sit in my bed or able to drive and listen to the podcasts. This has been an outlet for me in such an amazing and exciting way. I love this podcast and how it’s to raw and real. 5/5 stars for so much talent.

Good but also only ok...

Love how they empathically discuss different perspectives from other people’s lives. However, when it’s bad audio on the side of the interviewee it’s a major turnoff to the show. And sometimes it feels like the interviewee just goes on these rants that don’t really make sense. Like the person who says her family lied about who her mother is. It didn’t really give a good insight about this person’s perspective, it’s just so all over the place. Maybe vet the interviewees better.

1 start because of coming short from both episodes and how they interview them. Needs work ASAP.

I like this podcast but it’s starting to fade from what it was supposed to be in the beginning. For instance Joe and Greg just seem to just die out and cut the interviews sometimes short and that also goes with how they come out with episodes meaning they are short episodes between sessions now. So all in all I’m going with the one star but I wish they did more so I can give them 5 stars but I guess we can’t all get what we want. On to the NEXT podcast I guess.

Funny, Interesting, Touching, Real Interviews

The hosts are Greg & Joe. They’re two down to earth guys that are open to all types of people, non judgmental, funny and they are genuinely curious. They have a conversational approach with their guests where they ask questions and let the guests tell their story while giving them plenty of time to talk as well as going with the flow of the conversation instead of sticking to an agenda. The episode is a phone call with the two guys and the guest. The guests are all types, ranging from mental struggles, sexual encounters, relationships, health conditions, prison and the list keeps growing. Sorry this is long but I wanted to give a special shout out to the man who identifies as a sex addict. I really connected to what you spoke about; not necessarily the sex part but how the depression guilt and shame fueled your actions. There are a lot of us that know exactly how that feels and you can only deeply understand it if you’ve been there. You sound like an awesome guy and I’m so happy you’re finding you’re way out of the woods these days. Thanks for sharing, I was having a hard day, then I heard the episode and it helped me to feel a little less lost and reminded me of the power of human connection. Honesty hides more often than not today but by everyone sharing their stories on here you’re 💯 helping someone out there I guarantee it! Much love, hope your fan base continues to grow J & G! 💛

This could be better

I like the basis of the show and interviewing of people with different kind of lives. I just wish the co-hosts would prepare more for their interviews. It seems very unstructured, “winging it”, and last minute. I find them asking the same questions over and over but rephrasing them differently. They don’t seem to asking in depth kind of questions trying to really understand the persons life or why they do things. Their interviews seem like they are just having small talk with the person... Or just trying to pretend to care enough because the subject is kinda interesting. I think this podcast can be better if they would take more time researching people’s disorders or mental conditions and building stronger questions before interviewing them. They need better open ended questions, more questions about the kind of life these lived when they were younger, more about if their lives make them feel like outsider, what struggles they deal with on the daily, how other people in their life reacts to this, and etc. better questions will lead to more education for the listeners and better conversations. Maybe spend some time researching the great interviewers of our time to see how they structure their questions. Another problem they have is focusing on their guest instead of constantly being distracted by their thought pattern (like trying to figure what next question they are going to ask them) or side chatter. There is a lot of awkwardness in these podcast interviews and I think that comes from them not being prepared for these interviews at all. Another tip if the co-host have an issue with coming up with questions. They could ask their fans on social media platforms of what questions they may have for their interviewer about their life. Maybe post about their next guest a few days ahead with information about what they are going to be talking about with them. Along with researched information about their mental disorder, life conditions, and etc. Then compile some good questions from the audience and present it to the interviewer to answer. Hopes this helps

Mediocre Audio Quality

I have to turn the volume in my car alllllll the way up to hear Joe and the guest talk. Then, when Joe laughs, my eardrums explode because it’s so loud. The audio mixing on this podcast and on The Basement Yard is so mediocre every once in a while I think about abandoning both podcasts simply because I can’t hear them talking.

Entertaining & Educational

Just started binging all of the seasons so far and I am so impressed! I have watched Joe since the beginning of his YouTube career and gave this show a shot because he really makes me laugh! Not only is this show so entertaining and funny, but I have learned so much about people in this world and have a more open mind because of it. I wish I had thought of this a long time ago! Keep killing it Joe & Greg.

This show is so good

I’ve been following Joe Santagato since the beginning and listen to the Basement Yard. There have been a few times where he brought up this podcast in the Basement Yard and I finally decided to listen in on a long drive home from work. I’m hooked! I’m currently caught up with the most recent season and am listening to older episodes while waiting for the new one. Greg and Joe are an excellent team and I hope this podcast continues for years to come.

Keep doing what you’re doing!

I love this podcast! One of my favorite things about Nathan is his passion like when he gets so worked up that he yells and gets all high pitched. It’s hilarious! 🤣 I miss listening to you and Kate Wolff argue though. We need more of that duo!
