Just my scrumptious cup of tea

I listened to a few episodes here and there a few years ago (the more environmental and animal-based ones are my jam) but I’ve really started listening every week now and I adore it and Alie! Am I the only one that gets chills EVERY time she introduces the -ologist and the intro music starts?! Maybe so, but I’m not shy about it. LOVE IT, HIGHLY recommend. ALIE READ ME!

    Life Changing

Oh. My. God. I consider myself a podcastologist since I’ve been here since the mid-late oughts absorbing the internet’s first and then evolving science podcasts. Admittedly, one of my best friends is the producer is one of the hotly competing top science pods, but I proclaim this the best of all time (shhh!) and this is the first I’m actually reviewing. My husband, who is so sick of hearing me chatter about cool things I learned on podcasts, actually sits and absorbs the weirdness and wonder I have to relate from Ologies. I sold it to my sis that each episode is a mini college course. It’s like that drop/add week in college that you get to run around sampling everyone’s crazy cool specialization or running into someone interesting at a party and pinning them in a corner for an hour asking every dumb thing you’ve ever wanted to ask. So much love to Dad AW for filling that great big moon, cicada, cricket, tree, etc. shaped hole in my heart. My life is forever changed. PS: Took my 5 year old to the beach yesterday and spouted out at least 3 weird facts I learned from Ologies before we even got got the water. She said, “Mind blown, Mommy.” Thank you, Ologies! Dr. F

I thought I wasn’t into science but I’m into science

Thanks for making science interesting, hilarious, so entertaining. You connect with your guests in such a beautiful way. The episode on pumpkins was hands down the greatest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

    Everything is Interesting

At least that’s how this podcast makes you feel. My wife and I have never laughed so much about the end of the world or felt more knowledgeable about cicadas.

So many interesting facts for talking to people again post-Covid

Are you worried about not having anything interesting to say when you have to talk to people in real life again after you’ve gotten your vaccine? Well fear not! If you just start listening to Ologies you will have so many wildly interesting things to share. I’ve shared it with some of the friends in my group chats and it ensures we have something to talk about on Wednesdays. As a doctoral holder myself I love learning about other people's fields and Allie is a phenomenal interviewer who reflects my excitement for learning in her style!

    Screaming Like Cicadas

Do yourself a favor & listen to your ol’ Dad (Alie) Ward’s Ologies podcast. As I’m catching up on Cicadology, I knew I had to join the cicadas this summer and SCREAM constantly about how GREAT this podcast is! If you’re hesitant about listening to any subject, just try it! I’ve never regretted it & as always, learn something new which is a beautiful way to live ~ constantly curious. Thanks Alie for asking smart people “dumb” questions & sharing it with everyone.

    The best

I’m always impressed how this is extremely well made, interesting and funny. The host is perfect (Hi Alie)! She’s energetic, she listens carefully to her guests and ask the right questions. She also goes further when some terms or explanations are complicated. I’m someone who is interested in like…everything, so this is the perfect podcast! When these passionate people tell you about what they do, it’s almost impossible not to be interested in the subject after that! But I should warn you all: this podcast is addictive. ;)

    Ursinology was worth the wait

15/10 , Thanks dadward for this lovely episode. I want to marry Chris Morgan. Is that too forward? Help a woman out, dad!Such great stories, and so much sincere excitement and awe for these amazing creatures. Bears are my fav (especially polar bears) and this ep makes me want to quit my job & move north and study all the bears, even trash pile bears.

This Podcast is Very Worth Your Time

I’ve been meaning to review and support this great podcast for a while now. Alie and her incredibly smart guests have been with me on dog walks, while turning garden beds, on road trips and most recently at a sisters’ weekend in Alexandria, Virginia where we knocked back a couple bottles of rosé and contemplated the oncoming Brood X periodical cicadas (Some sisters were grossed out. Some were intrigued. All were buzzed and it felt like Alie and Dr Kritsky were in the room with us. Did we all down load Cicada Safari? Yes. Yes we did.)Thanks Alie, for combining your incredible production team, your inquisitive wit and your synesthetic point of view into an incredibly sweet, savory and delicious interweb offering!

    Simply the best

My 13 year old daughter, Lucy, and I listen to this podcast together all the time. We have even gone back listened to our favorite episodes again when we needed a fix. Alie is informative, fun, and engaging. Her guests are are always so excited to share their knowledge and Alie knows how to bring out the best in each of them. The podcast makes us laugh, sometimes cry, and always starts a conversation between us. Best of all, my daughter gets to tell everyone she sees cool science facts! This was long, but I feel like everyone should know how amazing this podcast is! Thanks, Dad Ward! We love you!

    Find a Fluvial Geomorphologist!

Late to the game here, only just discovered the podcast when a friend played the scorpion episode on a backpacking trip and I’m hooked! I went to school for fluvial geomorphology and we are a fun bunch- just google parachuting beavers in Idaho. You’re welcome 😙

    Oh Haaaaaaaayyy

I only just stumbled upon Ologies within the past month or so and I have not been able to get it out of my ear holes since. I have become so obsessed that I end up spending a good chunk of my therapy sessions talking about what Ologies I listened to that week! My therapist thought the show sounded so interesting by the way I talked about it that she went home and started listening herself! I have not only learned so much from this podcast, but it has helped me focus on the bigger things outside myself that are truly awesome in this world and beyond. Thanks Internet Dad <3

    Love it!!

I love this podcast! I’ve always listened to mystery and crime ones but they drove my terrible gut feelings crazy when I drive home at night, but then I found this one!! I learn so many new things and it doesn’t freak me out, it does the opposite :)

    10 year old approved

As a family, we like to listen to Ologies together in the car as I drive the kids to and from school, but now we’re caught up and today I had to pick a cooking podcast to play. From the back seat I heard the ten year ask “MOM! Why is this podcast LIKE Ologies but BORING?!” Why indeed, sir? Alie Ward thank you for making us think big thoughts about bats, cloud formations, and volcanoes. You’re curiosity is like a big ‘ol Dad hug spurring us forward.
