Simply done yet riveting! LOVE this podcast!
I listen to a lot of history podcasts and this one is def one of my faves! It is simple in format but the simplicity makes the content shine! The host is clearly a gifted storyteller. LOVE!

Great podcast, Love Dana, but the ads
I love Dana and the content of her episodes is so interesting and fun. But I’ve noticed several times the same ad plays twice in a row during the ad break toward the end of episode.

Interesting,
When I first found this podcast I loved it! Definitely scripted, but does a great job of showing all “sides” of the historical stories, the connections between events, and connections to our world today. I like the way it paints a picture of the person & tells his or her story. You can tell there is a lot of thought/ effort/ research in each show. However lately it seems to lean a little “woke” when it goes off script. Sometimes it is clear that there is a political statement being made with the topic. Which then makes you wonder if the stories that are being told don’t also have an agenda behind them. (Which is something that history has gotten wrong so many times) Just watch out for the spin that is ever present in our world today & do your own research!

“The Pretty Ambassador” - plagiarism
Hey Dana - I have enjoyed your podcast episodes very much and I realize that most of the subjects of these episodes are long dead. But your guest today wasn’t an interview. She pretty much just recited all of Nancy Mitford’s biography of Madame de Pompadour verbatim, almost word for word without specifically crediting her work. I believe the book is out of print but it’s really quite obvious that your guest simply presented these stories as if she had come up with them as her own research. Sloppy work, and disingenuous IMO. And also, the childish “ooohs, and awwwwws” on your part are cringe and silly and take away from the overall professional and polished tone of the podcast. I’m still giving you a good review but it’s not cool to take other people’s work and present it as your own, as your guest did today. Just saying.

Woke again, really?
Are you so concerned with the woke police coming for you that you must consistently degrade men? History isn’t always perfect but if you choose to communicate these accounts why not consider the time when the event took place.

The absolute best storytelling
Truly my favorite! Dana is an outstanding storyteller. I’m an amateur medieval history buff and sometimes already know the story, but can’t wait to hear how Dana tells it. Truthfully, I have a running wish-list of stories I hope she covers one day. (Eleanor of Aquitaine at the top of the list🤞). I often re-listen to my favorite episodes. To make it more worth your time, this podcast has just enough production and polish to make it feel very professional. This doesn’t sound like someone is just rambling into a cheap microphone.

Love It
Not only do we learn about the typical famous nobles, but some we (mainly me) haven’t heard about. The fascination is real.

Would be wonderful, but…
What a great podcast overall. Great subjects, great writing and editing. Dana Schwartz has a wonder voice and delivery. Unfortunately, her CONSTANT use of “quote” and “unquote “ makes the podcast virtually unlistenable!!! She will even “quote” without any reference to the source material. We get it already! Please stop quoting and maybe I’ll listen again!

I DONT GET IT
Why? I can’t say. I really don’t get it why people think Dana is not a historian and criticize her for the mispronunciation. She’s not even pronouncing anything wrong!

The Richard III episode
made me wonder how the other stories that I know less about are incorrect and also kind of cliched.

It’s just great. What else is there to say?
I listen to this podcast every week while I work. As a history nerd, it’s actually part of the reason I decided to go back to college.

Love it!
I was introduced to this podcast through an obsession with You’re Wrong About, and now I’m obsessed with Noble Blood! Dana is so good at lifting nuance from the historical sources and always has intelligent analysis. One of my faves!

Incredibly produced!
This is the only podcast that I will listen to over and over again while waiting for new episodes to drop. I love how to the point but eloquent Dana is. Dana paints such a vivid picture and doesn’t add useless information. Well written and well done!!! Can’t get enough!

Love the story telling
The very first Noble Blood episode that I ever listened to was about Marie Antoinette and I was struck by the note of empathy the episode contained. It's easy to forget that history figures were actual human beings, but Dana does a beautiful job telling their stories and making them relatable by reminding us of their humanity.

Fantastic!
An absolute must! I wish there were a new episode every day. The content and style in which Dana Schwartz delivers these magnificent, historical tales is brilliant and entrancing. Thank you Noble Blood!—Addition after listening to episode #122 Pope Pius the Silent. The very last sentence made me scream out with something close to satisfaction considering the topic.“There is a Jewish prayer that begins with the lines - Eternal God, open my lips… The Pope never opened his lips to speak plainly enough.”Incredibly well done. I’m proud of you Dana!

Fun, but poorly edited
I’ve been listening to this since it started, and I generally enjoy it. The topics are interesting, and the host does a good job. But the editing has gradually been getting worse and worse. The host repays lines that are never edited out, sections of audio are replayed, even ad reads are replayed 2-3 times in a row. I don’t understand how so many errors can make it through that could be easily fixed by someone listening through the pod before publishing. I used to listen religiously, but now I skip topics that aren’t as interesting to me-I don’t care to listen to rough drafts of a podcast anymore.

The Pretender Prince connection
i’m a direct descendant of Clan Gordon , which includes Lady Elizabeth Gordon and her Father George Gordon who was the 2nd earl of Huntly in Scotland. It was cool hearing them mentioned in this episode, even though they aren’t that important in history.

Can't take her mispronunciation anymore
I used to love this but her inability to pronounce words correctly makes it unlistenable to me now. So irritating. Why doesn't an editor or producer correct her? I'm out.
