Punched in the face while driving
So...I Helped launched a healthcare startup based in Austin (office in River Place) that’s raised over $15M and has like NO F$&&@&$ users. After Listening to this podcast (as well as reading everything by Andrew Chen, Andy Johns, Gabriel W, Sean E, Brian B and the list goes on) I realized we weren’t even approaching user acquisition and retention with the right mindset. When I delivered newspapers as a kid, I was never late, I knocked on doors, wrote thank you notes, and shoveled sidewalks just to make sure the customer always knew how much I valued their business. That’s the long-winded way of saying the lessons shared by Noah and his guests are all about being creative, tenacious, relentless, and hungry in pursuit of making products people need, then going out and getting your users one by one, then scaling, but never forgetting that users matter, thank them, and you’ll make some money in the process. In short, this realization was like getting punched in face while driving...total wake up call. Thanks Noah - Mark Deemer.
