Lack of effort
I, like many other reviewers, used to love MFM. Unfortunately, the quality truly has gone downhill. I understand there’s a pandemic going on. However, we’ve been in it for over a year. Every other podcast seems to have adjusted accordingly except for this one. There seems to be a level of professionalism and pride in their work that other podcasts have that this one has lost. One episode had 40 minutes of “what are you watching?” and 30 minutes of the case they were covering. It’s like they’ve unofficially changed the podcast to “my favorite TV show”. I really hope the negative reviews are taken to heart. They aren’t written by haters- they’re written by fans.

I used to love it.
I started listening a few months back and loved it until all they could talk about was therapy. I am not a believer in therapy and I’m a little tired of hearing about it. Also the smacking of Karen’s lips when she gets ready to talk sometimes is AWFUL. I created a drinking game at work with it. I can’t listen for long or I’d live in the restroom. I really started losing interest about 60ish episodes in.

Hands down, best podcast ever!
With exception of Serial, Georgia and Karen have raised the bar beyond reach of any other podcast. Their chemistry and banter cannot be beat. Combined with their brand of storytelling and the interesting stories they tell, is brilliant. I saw their show live in Toronto. Seeing how they interact in person, brought their chemistry to a new appreciation for me. Being in a 3000 seat theatre if screaming, mostly women and some men, was so infectious. Also, Steven was there! I have pics 😉Love, love, love! Cannot recommend highly enough!

I’ve been listening for years and K&G are still just as funny and well rounded. I love this podcast. So much.

Please stop with the live shows
I love you all. Dedicated listener but the live shows are terrible to listen to on the other end. It’s hard to keep up with the story. Please, I beg, just keep the regular format of the show. Other podcasts can do it each week, I know you guys can too!

Jump the Shark
This podcast went from one that I raved about to one I complain about. I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt for the past year, but it’s just apparent that Karen and Georgia just don’t care about their flagship that made them a success. I love the opening banter that some other people complain about, however, it just brings to my attention how much TV and Podcasts they have time to watch and listen to....so why can’t they spend any of that time actually bringing us new material? These quilt episodes are a joke. These feel good stories are a joke. We as your listeners are trying to get through the pandemic as well and we are looking for the things that bring us entertainment. I’m sorry your interest in true crime is soooo depressing for you while you sit at home. I think that’s a lie, they are being lazy. Researchers are also doing most of their work. Somehow these incredible women were able to put out new episodes and so multiple live shows a week with new material while the were on the road...and now that they are at home they don’t have time?! Their lack of interest in their podcast that made them famous is more than apparent. So sad...as is this podcast now.

Used to be such a fan!!!!!
An hour before the actual episode?!? And it’s a quilt. Gurl. See these queens live and been a fan cult member! But when they launched exactly right it all went down hill :/ I miss the old episodes even if they weren’t perfectly researched, they were more genuine!

Declining quality
You can tell the passion and enjoyment in creating this podcast has faded. Other podcasts have continued to put forth good content despite the crap hole that was 2020, and I’ve held out this long for MFM, but sadly it’s just not there. Recycling content.

1st podcast I ever listened to and still the best
Delving into metal health and murder anxiety with fellow Gen-Xers at both ends of the spectrum. Love love love them.

Terrible
Today on Instagram Georgia had the audacity to post about intentionally bullying and alienating those who choose not to get vaccinated. Last week she called for rates and reviews for the pod after publicly belittling a listener for expressing to her that the quality of the show has gone downhill. These women and this podcast are not about true crime anymore. They’re virtue signaling bullies using their platform for divisiveness. #CANCELMFM

New listener
I’ve been listening to this series since my sister recommended it about a month ago. I’ve skipped around from old to new episodes & I’ve been delighted by K & G’s ability of storytelling. They make my 40 minute commute fly by, and I’m excited to make my way through the whole series.

Not what it used to be.
I can’t listen to it anymore because it’s gone completely downhill. There’s hardly any effort from Karen and Georgia, and it’s been a problem for a while that’s just getting worse. Other people have pointed out the issues with the podcast. Too much self promotion, quilt episodes, not doing their own research anymore, constantly releasing live show episodes, talking about therapy and mental health to the point where now it just sounds like they’re preaching. I used to love when they talked about mental health, but when it comes down to it, I want to listen to a true crime comedy podcast. I want the old MFM back, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Which brings me to *THE WORST PART* about my review: Karen and Georgia do not take criticism well at all. ESPECIALLY GEORGIA. She’ll screenshot comments she receives on Instagram from people who are pointing out issues with the podcast, post the screenshots on her stories and makes it clear that anyone who has criticism does not matter at all. Then the commenters are ganged up on by die-hard MFM supporters, sometimes in really mean ways - and Georgia supports it. She encourages it. If you don’t like MFM anymore, well too bad because your opinion doesn’t matter at all. This is such a horrible way to handle a business. All they want to do is hear good things, people cheering them on and loving the podcast still. But there’s a vast majority of listeners who are no longer happy with the podcast. So many people, whose opinions matter. A good business listens to every voice; they take every bit of constructive criticism into account. But not MFM. Georgia acts like an immature child, and Karen acts like a sanctimonious know-it-all. One time a commenter said to Georgia that she would no longer be listening to the podcast due to various, valid reasons. Georgia responded by saying “don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Bye! *waving hand emoji*” That right there should tell you all you need to know. I’m done listening to them and will make sure not to let the door hit me on the way out.

Leave out the rants
I really do love this show but I have found myself fast forwarding a lot in the beginning of the shows because they get in to these rants that are just so boring. Stick to true crime. I have also found myself skipping some episodes because they have nothing to do with true crime.

Really funny hosts, can’t wait until COVID is done so Karen and Georgia can get back to their regular rhythm. As much as I appreciate the quilt episodes - because they are funny! - I really enjoy hearing new stories with some of their own research. SSDGM always!

Happy for your success but...
Ladies, I am so proud of your accomplishments. You have a successful network that you created and run but MFM is what brought you here. Please remember the earlier times when you were recording in Georgia’s non-air conditioned apartment. You seemed so enthusiastic back then. Now, you rely so much on the old live shows or re-runs. I realize you have more responsibilities but please don’t give up on the podcast and the fans that helped you get here. Thanks

Great show but recently quality has suffered
I’ve been a listener since 2017 and have until recently would have rated this five stars consistently. But in the past year or two, the volume of ads relative to content has increased noticeably. I realize we all gotta pay the bills, and I know they need to promote their network and other shows, but it’s a question of degree, and the ratio of ad to show has become a lot closer to fifty-fifty than it used to be. That plus the apparent lack of interest in telling stories about true crime (there’s been a lot of urban legend content recently) makes me think that maybe Karen and Georgia just aren’t into this anymore. And if they aren’t, I’m not sure why I should still be.

Listen up
Look, this pod isn’t for everyone. But it’s still enjoyable and you don’t have to like every part of it in order for it to be something you can enjoy. I still would recommend it!

Long time fan
I look forward to their content every week. I’ve been listening since the very beginning and K & G feel like friends at this point. I love listening to them banter and talk about what they’re reading, watching and listening to and I am so proud of them for how much they’ve grown and that they’ve created their own network! I will always be a MFM fan, and I hope they keep creating content for years to come. I can’t understand all the negative reviews about them being “lazy” this is free content for us, and also they are humans and we’re all experiencing a tiring, depressing global pandemic.
