A Great Podcast on Star Trek Film and TV Music

Melodic Tracks is one of my favorite shows on the network. Been re listening to some of the episodes and they are nice and very informative about Star Trek music. I did started listening to Star Trek music 1st with the music to the movie with scores by Jerry Goldsmith , James Horner and Dennis McCarthy and then the shows starting 1st with TOS and TNG. I have liked film music ever since I started listening to film composers like John Williams , Jerry Goldsmith , Danny Elfman , Ron Jones , Mark Snow , Hans Zimmer , David Newman , Thomas Newman , Howard Shore and tv composers like Blake Neely. My favorite Star Trek Composer is Jerry Goldsmith but also I do like James Horner's scores for The Wrath of Khan and The Search For Spock. The scores for The Kelvin Timeline films are good but to me are not as iconic as the ones from the early Trek movies. Film Music is amazing at least it was back from the late 70s up to the early 2000s now it seems film scores are not as iconic and in movies now are looked as wallpaper more now. Melodic Treks is a great podcast

Terrific and Enlightening Show

Brandon is a terrific host and knowledgeable to boot. If you enjoy music and Trek, or even just music in general and the stories behind how those pieces came to life, this is absolutely a show you need to put in your regular rotation.

I'm so happy that I discovered this podcast!

I've been a lifelong Star Trek fan, but Brandon has brought a whole new dimension (pardon the pun) to my fandom. In the past, I've paid little attention to the music, other than the iconic themes, of course. The tunes in the background were just that, background to the action. But through this wonderful podcast, I've become aware of what I've been missing all these years. Well, better late than never! As proof of Brandon's influence, I am now looking at a stack of eleven Star Trek soundtrack CDs, and I have the big La La Land TOS box set on order! Thank you so much, Brandon, for championing this wonderful music and these great composers.

Iconic Music

In the 50 years Star Trek has been around, it has brought us some very inconic soundtracks. Melodic Treks is dedicated to the music of Star Trek. You don't just get to hear great music, but learn some of the backstory behind the tracks as well.

An excellent show!

Having been a music lover my whole life and also a Trekkie my whole life, this show is (pardon the pun)the best of both worlds! :PRight from my early days as a Trekkie, alot of the music always grabbed me, so when I could start affording them, I was getting as many of the soundtracks as I could!Brandon does a terrific job with each episode, whether it be with a guest or by himself.(Probably one of my favorite solo shows was about the Enterprise theme, as I'm a fan of it as well. I'd had NO IDEA there had been so many other renditions of it!)One particular thing I always enjoy when he has a guest on is having them pick their Top 5 Trek scores, sometimes it'll be one I've forgotten about or not paid much attention to previously, so I'll often develop a new appreciation for it!Keep up the good work, Brandon! LLAP!

Terrific Listen!

Brandon does a great job researching Trek music and discussing it intelligently, despite not having a background in music. His episodes are always interesting and entertaining and he gets great guests! If you love Star Trek music, or even just music in general, this one's for you!

An Insightful Musical Podcast

A great podcast about the music and composers of Star Trek. Some great interviews and insight. To an outsider it seems that this could only appeal to Trek fans, but I think anyone interested in orchestral music or soundtracks would enjoy it.

This podcast meets the goldsmith standards for podcasts!

Puns aside, this podcast continues to provide warmth, insight, and interviews about the music of Star Trek. Brandon-Shea Mutala does a fine job providing a everyman's perspective on the composers of Star Trek. Listeners often are treated with revealing interviews with the people behind the scenes who put together the disc sets that keep Star Trek music (and film music in general) alive in the ears of listeners. Well done, Brandon! I recommend this podcast to any casual and fanatic listeners of film scores.

Excellent way to explore the music of Star Trek

I recently discovered Melodic Treks on the Trek.fm network. Brandon-Hea Mutala does an outstanding job pulling together episodes that explore a particular theme or series. The Jerry Goldsmith vs John Williams "Clash of the Titans" episode was just classically good. His recent Dogs of War podcast was also exceptional. For anyone who is into soundtracks and/or Star Trek, I heartily recommend you check out Melodic Treks.

Thank you Brandon

Hi, just writing a quick line to thank Brandon for the amazing work he's done so far on Melodic Trek, my second favorite podcast on Trek.Fm.Brandon combines his deep knowledge of Trek & passion for film scoring with an "every day man" approach to the subject, which makes the content he creates as interesting as it is accessible to casual and hard core fans alike. The depth of his research and the variety of topics/angles which he explores pairs perfectly with the humble respect he continually pays to the music he shares with his listeners, and the greater life lessons Star Trek has to offer.Thank you Brandon, please don't stop doing what you're doing!! :)

A Musical Journey

With the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek in 2016, I looked for new ways to expand and celebrate my fandom. I discovered the Trek.fm network a little late, but am now an avid listener. This is one of my favorite podcasts of all time; podcasts are the perfect medium for music discussion as it allows all your senses to concentrate on the melodic Trek that Brandon-Shea Mutala guides. His voice is perfect for the often subdued discussions. Preparation and professionalism are standouts. I love all the interviews with composers and other musicians. It is a great way to relive the countless hours of Star Trek music and learn more than you can imagine. Music is such an important part of any moving picture; it’s amazing how much goes in to each note.
