Compassionate, comprehensive, intelligent examination of criminal behavior

I love Candace to pieces. My mom and I have always watched Crime shows together and I remembered her commentary from deadly women. She was always our favorite!! When I found out she had her own podcast I was ecstatic! Her comments are always so matter of fact. She doesn’t mean to be funny every time, but for a social worker like me with an admittedly dark sense of humor, I find her dry delivery hilarious. It’s funny I just listened to the episode when she talks about the “dirt nap.” I didn’t take it the way another reviewer did at all! I can understand why that would be offensive to a regular person but I hope people can see that when you work in such a dark field, sometimes you find humor in darker things than regular people as a way to survive. Gallows humor I believe they call it. Anyway, I appreciate the depth and breadth of the podcast and learning about the childhood of the criminals. It’s always helpful to look at a more complete picture and to me, killer psyche is one of the most compassionately comprehensive examinations of criminal behavior in the podcast world.

    Lost My Respect 👎🏻

I used to Listen But then Candace said very offensively that people she was talking about should take a “dirt nap”. Even after explaining most of them have committed murder because they are seriously mentally ill or grew up being severely abused or similar circumstances like domestic violence. Even if that is not the case the death penalty is never the answer! Life in prison without chance of parole, is way less expensive and it’s not government sanctioned murder! You lost a listener Candace!

    One of my Favorites

I love this podcast. This was my very first podcast show, and it turned me into a true crime junkie. Candice is awesome, her tone and cadence are perfect for conveying the grave essence of what she is covering but also does not excuse or downplay what is the inexcusable behavior of the guilty parties. I love the professional psychological breakdowns and explanations of criminal profiles. Keep up the great work you two!!

Great podcast! Candace truly is a trail blaizer, and Julie is a wonderful sidekick for the continued “digging” for facts and fulfillment. I am a deputy in a very small town with four small children of my own. I’m constantly in fear for my children and the people of the world. Sex crimes and children are the worst. I’m no feminist, but it is surely nice to hear an educated and experienced woman’s opinions of the psychological makeup for these people. I definitely apply a large portion of the educational pieces on how I handle calls and cases. Fantastic podcast. Please keep up the work and sharing it with the world. It helps more than you know!

Core content please. Anything different should be a bonus.

I love learning about abnormal psychology, so this podcast was must-listen for me. That said, I recently knocked my review down by two stars. I did this because of the episodes where the producer interviews Candace and when Candace interviews other experts. It takes away from the actual show people like and want to listen to. If you want to interview other experts or interview Candace, do it in a new show. Or, better yet—put them as bonus episodes in between the weekly releases of the main program. Core content please. Anything different should be a bonus.

    Inaccuracies and Poor Preparation

Episode says 1983 Anchorage, Ak had 15,000. It had 173,000. No attempt to check pronunciation. These are crazy easy thing to fact check.

I want to love this show

I want to love it especially bc I want to pursue a career in profiling myself. However, being a person who has been actively treating BPD for 5 years.. listening to this is incredibly discouraging. I’ve taken the time to learn and heal as much as possible and I feel like this show (rightfully so) points out the extreme cases of BPD.. but there are also people like me who sought out a diagnosis and put effort into healing for the sake of themselves and others. I’m living with my disorder and understanding the responsibilities of being mindful of my own symptoms. Hearing how these serious disorders are talked about just makes me feel like there’s no hope for a cure.. when that’s not true at all. It contributes to the negative stigma when people should be encouraged to seek help. I wish I had known about my disorder sooner Bc it truly is something I’d never wish on anyone. I have been manipulated by a therapist who shot me down about treating BPD, telling me it was chronic and incurable. It wasn’t until years later that I found my perfect therapist and her and I are making AMAZING progress. Bad people can have common qualities but that’s doesn’t apply to all of those who have those same qualities. I was so excited to find this podcast but it is not helping my healing process and I think I’ll just have to stop at this point and find another source of learning about this important work.

    Interesting approach

Although there is not much true crime I don’t love, this one has kind of different vibe.

    Enjoyable Podcast

I really enjoy this podcast. Candace does a good job telling us about the crimes and exploring the criminals’ minds. The podcast is best when it’s just Candace and not her producer Lisa as well. I enjoy hearing Candace’s vast knowledge and experience. This is one tough lady!

    Decent Podcast

I’m familiar with Candice from TV, so I subscribed to this podcast immediately. Her thoughts on law enforcement during the Fox Lake episode is why I rate this show a 3. Everyone doesn’t have the benefit of deeming police officers “trustworthy”. Come on now, girl.

What an amazing and tragic story!! It’s shocking that throughout all her interviews clinicians failed to ask the most relevant questions!!! This is my favorite podcast bar none. Great job Candace!! Thank you for your insight into the injurious affects of abuse.

    Amazing

We are so fortunate to get to listen to Candice and have the “inside” look into these killers. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts, but this podcast in particular is so unique in the way the stories are told. We really get to learn the minds of these people. Thank you and I look forward to more episodes.

    10 stars

I find this podcast endlessly fascinating. I love how Candice breaks down the different mental disorders, she really knows her stuff. It’s a more in-depth look at some of the most well known cases. I’ll think I’ve heard it all about a case, for instance Ed Gein, but she talks about the psychology behind the crimes. I haven’t listened to any other podcasts since I found this one. Fantastic!
