All things #ImpactInvesting

Together with ImpactAlpha’s “The Brief” (Daily Newsletter) this is the best way to stay up to date and “in the know” of what’s happening in the world of Impact Investing. The show usually entertains contrasting ways, relevant topics, and the occasional subject matter expert. In my mind, a must for any practitioner, wannabe practitioner, or anyone for that matter (in the end we are all Impact Investors whether we want to or not).

Best Impact Finance News and Analysis Out There

I am a scrappy street entrepreneur, captain of a rag-tag but unbelievably committed 100% lived-experience posse, and we are ready to scale our work (bootstrap and credit cards til now). Because of these Impact Alpha cats, I actually have some idea what I’m talking about or what investment appetites we can satisfy when I get in the room to pitch or collaborate. People think I’m really smart and deep when I throw out terms like “greenwashing” and “catalytic capital” into the discussion. Can you guess where I picked those up, along with the source materials that allowed me to read deep about such trends and concepts?

Fantastic

As a podcast listener and professional in the impact investment space, I'm hard to please and frequently fall back on familiar stalwarts in the NPR realm. On a long drive home last night, I queued up Returns on Investment's first podcast with Nancy Pfund and found the discussion pointed, engaging, informative and an incredible asset in helping build an understanding and vision for the impact investment space, and, as a result, ended up plowing through 8 more episodes before returning home. Absolutely fantastic content, questions, discussion, etc. Incredibly glad to have found the podcast.

Beyond the hype

OK, I’m biased, as one of the regulars on the Returns on Investment podcast (and editor of ImpactAlpha). But we’ve got a good conversation going, with Imogen Rose-Smith of Institutional Investor playing the sober realist with her finger on the pulse of real money managers — a good counterpoint to my more bullish (I would say long-term) pronouncement. Brian Walsh of Liquidnet keeps us on track. We’ve had some great interview guest, including Nancy Pfund of DBL, Dave Chen of Equilibrium and Erika Karp of Cornerstone Capital Group. There’s lots more to come, so please tune in.
