Awesome!

I really loved this podcast. It helped me to relax and understand my body a little better. I don’t think this podcast is anti-medical intervention, it’s anti-unnecessary medical intervention. I feel empowered by this podcast to use hypnobirthing and other coping mechanism but I also feel empowered by it to use medical intervention if necessary for mine or my babies safety.

Anti-intervention

This podcast is meant to scare anyone who has to have a medical intervention. I didn’t get past the first 15 minutes bc it was a narrative about all of the awful things that *allegedly* will happen to you with interventions. As a mom who had to be induced for medical reasons but is turning to hypnobirthing for assistance, I found it very off-putting and made me want to re-consider this method.

A Bit Too Condescending

I really don't appreciate the anti-medicine aspect of this. I love the idea of hypnobirthing, and do plan to apply some of it to my birth. However, if I don't induce and need medical assistance, that does not mean I then become a caged animal. This type of talk is what makes mothers feel like failures when things don't go according to plan. I expect a natural birth which I control to the best of my ability.. but my wearing a hospital Johnny-coat doesn't mean I'll lose sense of self. It's just really dramatic and I find it to be quite a turn off.. I wish they could be more open minded, less judgmental and maybe even just slightly appreciative of our MDs who will be making sure we and our babies will be safe.

This was great!

This really helped me to relax and not stress about the birth! This also helped me to make better nutritional choices and really helped for a great night sleep. I felt more connected to my baby as well :)
