Can’t get enough

Jen is hilarious and insightful. She makes my commutes in LA manageable as I laugh alone in my car and look like a crazy person to fellow people driving near me. I love this pod!

Don’t know why I listened for so long

Jen is a remarkable combination of being woke and entirely lacking self-awareness. At first glance, it’s just someone ranting about things that bug her in a way that is sometimes funny. And don’t get me wrong, sometimes it is. But after a while it became completely taken over by giving too many “I know this isn’t PC, but...” disclaimers, saying offensive things about men and then trying to speak for both sides of the argument (this happens every episode... come up with a new shtick), complaining about not getting enough work, and begging for more patreon subscribers. It’s weird how long I stuck with it given how vacuous it is. I listened for about 6 months consistently. But something eventually made me realize that it’s the same show every week, and Jen‘s supersized victim mentality finally got to be too much.I’ve never written a podcast review before, but I feel finally disillusioned. The podcasts usually come across (especially since quarantine began) as lazy. Especially when compared to her stand up, of which I am a huge fan. But after looking around at some other podcasts in the same genre, I realized that there’s so much great content out there by people who actually care and put that care into their product. For now I see neither from Jen.

👍🏻

I puked in your driveway and covered it with napkins. But seriously, Jen is the cool older sister I wish I had. Listening to the podcast is like having a good conversation without the stress of having to hold up my end of it.

Privilege meets pomposity

Do you remember that person from high school who was always mad?You know, the one who tried really hard to be tough? The kind of person who rebelled because the middle-class was a cage inhibiting their creativity.Well, meet Jen Kirkman. A D-list comedian who likes to complain about issues most people would brush off with nary a worry.Jen is in her mid 40s and she’s finding her popularity waning. Listen to this podcast and you’ll hear about the issues that are plaguing this poor woman.Important issues such as:Being asked out.People not wearing masks while jogging. Not being able to practice her craft. Her stupid bangs. Her patreon where you can pay, as in money not the emotional cost, to hear her try to be funny. More often than not she fails.

Tiresome

Nothing like listening to a podcast that is just the host complaint about everyone she has ever spoken to, including all the fans that listen to this podcast. Or used to listen if she keeps this up.

I love this pod

Jen is hysterically funny. I bought both of her books and have gone to see her live several times. She does complain about her fans TO her fans quite frequently. Doesn’t seem like a GREAT idea but I’m still here. 🤔

Kid Friendly please

I think that Jen should maybe do podcasts for everyone for adults and kids. Maybe if she used a little less explicit content then I would like her podcasts. Keep trying I’ve been reading your reviews and a lot of people like you. So please consider my thinking and keep up the hard work!

For my comedy cravings

Jen’s rants, rambling stories and random musings are like comfort food for my ears. And I love to listen while cooking. She’s real and really funny. It’s my can’t skip podcast!

A weekly staple

Always love to check in with Jen! She is naturally and effortlessly funny, telling stories that give real insight into the life of a working comedian/actor/writer in LA. As a Bostonian, tales of her senior citizen parents high-rolling at the casino in Connecticut are always a bonus. Buy her books too!

Yawn

BORING! Always complaining about something. Enjoys talking about her anxiety, how she's so much smarter than the rest of us, and how people are constantly annoying her. Such a dose of negativity, hopelessness, with an occasional funny anecdote.

Used to be a huge fan...

I wish Jen well, but I think she gets in her own way. I supported her shows, purchased merch and sponsored products, bought her books, and listened to this podcast for 2-3 years. However, lately, it’s become so tiresome. She just berates her fans and listeners for not buying her stuff and basically plays know-it-all about things she knows little. It’s a constant eye-roll fest of a privileged white lady complaining about all of her privilege. I can say her live shows are really good. Go see her, but her presence on her podcast and ESPECIALLY social media is hurting her. I think she needs lessons in professional interaction from many of her more successful peers. She would say “I’m kidding!! Why can’t anyone take a joke?” That’s her out about anything she does that’s unprofessional. She seems like an impulsive teenager. That excuse doesn’t work. People see right through it. I really wanted her to do well, but people only want that for someone who seems grateful. Jen does not. She seems entitled, narcissistic, and angry. I’m tired of supporting someone like this, so I unsubscribed from this podcast and her social media. I was planning on supporting her Patreon, but won’t be doing that, either. I hope she gets her stuff straight for her own sake, but I’m kind of tired of it.Also, she, like LIT-ERALLY, like says LIT-ERALLY, LIT-ERALLY every two minutes. If you can, like, literally, deal with that. Literally, more power to you.

“Give me five stars!” Oh, GLADLY!!!! 😂

I’m definitely biased as a part of the group of fans that still follow the careers of some of Chelsey Lately’s writers, but Jen is definitely one of the most honest comediennes out there! I love listening to her podcast when it’s silent at work and her narration is so conversational, I don’t even notice that she’s not here (god that sounds like I see things...I DONT!) I am also biased as a fellow Bostonian and I find her constant commentary on her family hilarious and accurate. Definitely a great podcast where you can just let the episodes play and you won’t even notice the difference because her delivery is consistent.

Like listening to a friend!

I’ve been a listener for about 4 years now and I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this journey of life with Jen. A lot of things have changed in my life over these 4 years, and it’s been interesting to hear what has changed in Jen’s life as well. I love the dead air as she answers emails or a text, with just her muttering quietly to herself as she writes a response. She’s so personable and silly, it’s like listening to a friend over a glass of wine.Edit - I just subscribed to her on Patreon, I’m so excited to get more content from Jen!!
