You can’t spell Game Master without “pretentious.” Well, you can, actually. But let’s pretend you can’t so I can make a point. My point is a good Game Master needs a lot of big, fancy words at their disposal to make their flavor text as confusing as possible. Oops. I mean engaging, not confusing. My New Favorite Podcast

I don't know how I missed this one until now in 2019. The good new is that now that I've found it, there are years of past episodes to catch up on. Many other podcasts that have single narrators can seem awkward, with no feedback during the monolgue, but Fiddleback's dialog keeps my attention by meandering, in an interesting way, to topics that I would not have guessed were related.

Awesome podcast

Awesome podcast. And not just for roleplaying gamers. Anyone who is a fan of history, mythology, word origin, or even science will find something in almost every episode to look forward to.

Content instead of theory

I’ve spent the last month reading the angry gm’s blog. It’s amazing. I find it really helps with the design and theory of your games, but not necessarily the actual content. It tells you how to run your games and why you should run them that way. This podcast is the other side of the coin, although the why is still there it really helps with the what. Should you use the word temple or shrine and why? Stuff like that. The way it’s presented is a little rambly. They like to jump from topic to topic a lot, but the payoff is always worth it. I recommend listening to the first episode named drow, and if you like it then listen to the second.

Intelligent & Interesting

An excellent podcast! Very satisfying to listen to while working. Fiddleback’s silky-smooth voice is a national treasure, and the AngryGM’ thoughtful analysis is always welcome.

These two guys,

I have learned so much from this pod cast. I have been a DM for over 20 years for the last 5 years I have been running a water-world campaign . GM word of the week’s 3 parter on nautical exploration and seafaring has been instrumental in my game. Before all the npc’s could do was swab the deck in the back ground. Now they count knots, mend sails and rescue traders lost at sea who don't have triangular sails. Thanks guys! I’m a lifer!

Amazing podcast.

The narrator is a learned man of gravitas and charm! Love it. I’m actually angry at my 2015 self for not discovering this podcast sooner. Count me in as a lifetime listener from henceforth.

The voice and the script are well matched

The guys that do this podcast are from the mad adventurers society and have a great system, AngryDM researches and writes and fiddleback voices and edits this into a great listen every week with a great vocabulary building tale that will keep you engaged.

Great! Educational and inspiring

Starting from the beginning, I was struggling to get some creative juices flowing for my games. I have found that listening to these words and how we have been pigeon holing the ideas have stifled what I have presenting to my players. Thanks to this I have been able to come up with more creative, in depth events, and a better experience for everyone at my table. A little education really does go a long way.

Wonderful

Masterfully written and easy to listen to. I appreciate that the podcast isn't too long, it makes it easier to listen to without the viewer feeling bogged down. If you want to learn something new every week as a GM, this is definitely a great go-to!
