Food Through the Lens of Science and History
Great content, grating hosts

Oh, how I would love this show if it was a article in a magazine. But sadly, it's a podcast, and the fascinating topics and research is tainted by the odd pronunciation and stilted manner in which the hosts speak. Are they aliens trying to fit in among us humans? Is it a department of Amazon trying to see if a Alexa can host a podcast without us figuring it out? How can the host of a food podcast not be able to pronounce words like Ea.t and Par.ty? Anyway, it has a lot of potential if they can find some other hosts to narrate the episodes. The topics and insights are first rate.

Makes me hungry and smarter

I love hearing about the science and history of food from a smart but goofy point of view! Though this podcast always makes me hungry......

An excellent foodie resource

I have loved this show from the first episode. Cynthia and Nicky, who came out of a professional science and journalism background, set Luton their own to produce this excellent podcast as they would have it done. The result is that we listeners have learned and been enriched by information having anything to do with food that is often interesting, engaging and occasionally phenomenally life-changing.For example, their episode on koji has changed so much in the kitchen for me. I don’t know what ever I was doing without it for so many years. So I’m looking forward to every new episode, especially those life changing ones yet to come.

Accents or modulation distracting but like topics

I get distracted wondering if these are some sort of computer generated voices, yet I enjoy the topics.

Love this podcast!

If you’re even slightly interested in food you absolutely must start listening to this podcast. The hosts are interesting, intelligent, and each episode is meticulously researched but presented in a very entertaining and accessible way. I also appreciate the absence of annoying background music playing over people speaking that I’ve run across in other podcasts.

Topics are interesting but voices droves me batty

Couldn’t focus on the words because I’d just get overwhelmed by the affected way both ladies speak, the inflections, and accent.

Great content, painful affected accents!!

I can no longer listen, unfortunately. Both hosts have such affected accents that it’s impossible not to be distracted by them. It’s unfortunate they can’t be more authentic sounding. Maybe they could get a voice coach?

Best Podcast Ever!

This is by far my favorite podcast! It is well researched and informative. I also feel like every episode is relatable. The guest they have on the show are all experts in their fields and they add great insights to the topic being discussed. Listener beware: it makes you crave the food that they are discussing that episode. I just listened to Mango Mania and right after I went out and bought a bunch of mangos. However, is there such a thing as too mango mangos? I think not! Listen to this podcast. It will change the way you look at food for the better.

Informative and Interesting

I love this show! It does a great job of giving a lot of information, really well researched, on topics small enough to fit into the time allocated. The things I’ve learned have actually changed how my family eats. Can’t say enough good things!

Hosts voices are extremely annoying.

The content promises to be so interesting. However, I simply could not bear more than 10 minutes of the exaggerated lilts in the hosts’ voices, who sound like they are telling bedtime stories to toddlers. Hire some adults who are articulate enough to speak like adults, and this could be a great podcast. I would have expected that to be a priority for an audio medium.
