Be proud of your British history. Captain Cook was attack when he came ashore. He was a great explorer traveling the world. History is full of evil horrifying men and people. He isn’t one of them

Fantastic Stories

An elegant show that lets reporters tell extraordinary first-person narratives, in their own words. Often sad, terrifying and occasionally mysterious and funny. Always intriguing. History buffs, lovers of great storytelling and anyone who’s ever used CultureGrams or the CIA World Factbook for a school project should enjoy this.

Aleays interesting

I cannot remember a time when I haven't listened to FOOC, but of course now it is easier than ever - you can download the podcast anytime anywhere. Real insights to what it is actually like to be in those countries all over the world where the BBC sends its formidable reporters, who instead of habging around in hotels talking to other reporters actually get out and walk among and talk with the people who live in that country, no matter how fraught with sadness and danger that might be (and also, it must be said, lhappiness and laughter as well).

Probably the best programme on radio

FOOC has survived and for good reason. An excellent style of reporting - intimate and engaging - providing insight and first-hand experience from across the globe by the best of the BBC journalists. The podcast is a great bonus, given the frequency with which FOOC is on with the different Radio 4 and World Service versions. There are few things better than having several episodes to listen to end-to-end for a few hours. It is useful to have an up-to-date edition but old ones also provide unique insights and, frankly, I can listen to these and re-listen to them many times - lack of currency is no distraction.

Different perspective

I listen to each podcast. Behind the scenes perspective of different countries is exceptional. Typical BBC; superb. This is what the BBC is supremely good at. Correspondents giving the background and telling the stories that don't make the Editor's Cut. I'm writing this particularly because of the "Home" podcast on 28th January 2017. Bolton has been in decline for a long time. Typical of the lack of investment in the town (city?), people have migrated their shopping (and football) to Horwich. Great piece of journalism. Thanks from a grateful licence fee payer.

My favourite podcast

I listen to a wide range of podcasts but FOOC is my favourite. I love the range of countries included; The time given to each contribution ; the in-depth incisiveness of their topics. Often a detailed close focus, one aspect of a major story. Give it a try

Travel the world vicariously!

This podcast has fantastic breadth of coverage. It is riveting to get a taste of so many cultures as the correspondents share their most compelling thoughts and stories. It is like each of their many seasoned correspondents has been given the mike to share their greatest (recent) hit.

Tired left wing cliches

Lazy use of cliches delivered with obvious BBC left wing bias. Choice of stories to report each week bordering on leftist propaganda. Would be a good format if delivered by an unbiased team.
