Each episode explores the video games people love and why they love them. Why do we imprint hard on certain games, and how do those games imprint on us? Keith and Jesse chat with celebrities, game developers, industry pros, and some folks you’d never guess are into video games.

The Champagne of Live Play

If you're into live tabletop RPG podcasting ala the Adventure Zone or Acquisitions Incorporated but with 34% fewer poop jokes and 75% higher concept, with interweaving storytelling and characters who make you cry, all topped with good, good gooey goofs, then FATT is your jam. It certainly is mine. Thanks for the good work, friends, and I’m dying for more Rhizome content whenever you’re done with your space war. 💜

Maybe edit a little more

The world building in this podcast is incredible I just wish more of the thinking time and discussion of positioning was trimmed out because the episodes are just too long and it takes so long to get anywhere in the story.

Top shelf truly

Show me another actual play podcast playing pbta games with a commitment to critical world building, smart characterization, fun interactions between good friends, AND references to Bon Appetite’s gourmet makes series!! It doesn’t exist. This pod is a unique and refined listening experience. Highly recommended.

I am so emotional

I have laughed so hard and cried so hard. FATT is genuinely my favorite podcast of all time and an all round great group of people. I have been one of their patreon supporters for a little less than a year and I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

Great storytelling but too much rules talk

I really enjoy the storytelling, roleplay and world building but it’s so exhausting to look at the tracker and see how it’s been like 45 minutes and still none of that has happened because we’re rolling on downtime tables or trying to figure out position/effect. Would love if more of that was cut out/done “offscreen,” I’m here for the story and characters not for a mechanical deep dive.

Great cast, great stories, and actual actual play

Been listening since 2017 and it only gets better. The stories and music and are well crafted, compelling, and because I always end up getting caught up on the main stories here, I also subscribe to the Patreon to get even more FATT content (Bluff City, on its own, Extremely Worth supporting them there - plus it feels nice to contribute support to people I've been entertained by for years now!) This show has gotten me through long stressful commutes and jobs I hated, and I appreciate it. At one particularly tedious and boring job at a museum, I bought an awful, cheap bluetooth earpiece I could hide being my hair so I could listen at work without anyone knowing. I remember pacing around the empty gallery listening to Autumn in Hieron and absolutely just busting out laughing at: "Point number one: you might think you’re ghosts now." and then looking around to make sure no one heard me. (Still one of my favorite FATT moments)

Great Chemistry, Feels Like Old Friends

After listening to Austin Walker for years on various video game podcasts, it’s great to hear his storytelling skills put to the test. Plus everyone else has great chemistry with each other and Austin, so it’s like listening to a group of people who enjoy each other’s company and genuinely feel like friends, as opposed to some podcasts where people feel like they’re having to be “on” before hitting record.

The best podcast

Such thoughtful, rich, and complex world building and characters. Each season explores interesting and relevant themes. Plus explosions, mechs, anime bs, and dysfunctional divorcing dad gods.

Brilliant

Absolutely wonderful game playing and story telling from people who are just wildly smart and good to listen to. If the worlds and stories are what you like from actual play podcasts, this is the show to listen to. And I get it, it’s very long and feels hard to get into sometimes. I was in that boat once. If this show teaches you anything though, it’ll teach you that you just have to get off the boat.

Wonderful Joy and Sorrow

This podcast is so difficult to listen to at work, because I have to stifle my laughter whenever Keith is in the episode and conceal my gasps any time .... anyone fails a roll. Austin is a brilliant story teller and the group’s stories have so much to do with the bonds we have with each other as opposed to how do we kill the big bad. Fatt is delightfully inclusive and zany without feeling pandering like some actual plays do. They’re just good friends having a good (sometimes sad) time that they share with us.
